ok, here's the deal. I've got plain white bread, butter and margarine, and garlic powder, garlic salt, and chopped garlic in a jar. Using these ingredients (any or all of them), how do you suggest I make some edible if not appetizing garlic bread to serve with spaghetti? Oviously, doesn't have to be anything fancy...

I make garlic bread all the time with those ingredients since my kids dont like the hard crust of french breads....
Put your margarine or butter(softened) in a cup, pour in some garlic powder about a tablespoon (this makes like 6-8 slices) stir it well with a butter knife. Smell it and see if you want to add more garlic. Spread it on your bread and then toast in a toaster or bake in the over for about 5-10 min at 350 degrees.
I say to smell it instead of taste it because cooking changes it so smelling it the best test. good luck

I would take some of the garlic ad the garlic powder and a quarter cup of butter and mash it all together... That would be the the simplest way to do make a spread Then you would just spread on the bread and toast in your oven till nice and toasty

Melt some butter in a small pan, and add a little chopped garlic from the jar. Saute for a few minutes, then brush on your bread. Put your bread in the oven and toast.

Mix the garlic powder with the butter and spread it on the bread then put it in the broiler until it is golden brown, keep a very close eye on it because it will burn in seconds. You don't want to use the garlic salt because it will be too salty and the minced garlic will be too strong.

4 large cloves garlic, mashed and peeled
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 whole egg
1 egg yolk
1/4 cup fresh basil leaves (optional)
3/4 cup olive oil
Lemon juice to taste
Put the garlic cloves with the mustard, salt, pepper, egg, egg yolk, and basil in a blender. Blend a few seconds. While the blender is on, add ¼ cup of the oil, blend thoroughly, then add remaining oil slowly in a thin, steady stream until the mayonnaise thickens. Add lemon juice to taste.

Melt your butter and put a few dashes of garlic powder in the butter. Then spread your bread with the butter mixture and toast your bread. Yummy
