Well, what can I say, I was In the same boat as you my friend, exept I never tried the suicide thing. It started when my mother died 10 years ago. Sh*t hit the fan, my life was turned upside down, I found myself abusing drugs and homeless 2 years later and of course depressed.

Depression is a sickness, it is anger and rage turned inwards against yourself, that might explain why you take physical harm against yourself. Many people get different degrees of depresion some mild some more severe. These people also compensate in some fashion, food, drugs, physical pain, etc. What I learned was to compensate with something else.

I compensated with physical activity, I started running, I hated it so I switched to weight lifting... Hated that to... So I switched to YOGA..... Loved it for me it is great.... It allowed me to slowly pull my self out of my depression. It took forever. Some days I still get depressed... Some days I am the oposite of depressed... But what ever you do, stop hurting your self.... Be strong... and ty some sort of physical activity of 30 minutes a day....

Depression is hard, life is hard but they are all part of the human element.. Good luck

I can tell you that what you're feeling is normal in the sense that many people go through a period like you're having.

I can also tell you that most of them don't have to. That is because anti-depressant medications really work. The problem is some of them cause side effects to some people, so even if they work on the depression, people won't continue taking them. What it takes is an attitute of experimentation, and a prescribing mental health professional--usually a psychiatrist--who will let you change medications if the first ones don't work or have the side effects.

Therapy can be useful in finding ways to deal with the social aspects of the depression, and if you're lucky, finding out things in the past that may be contributing. Even though depression is an actual physical problem that can be helped by medication, psychological pressures can be part of the reason for the biological changes.

The last thing I'll tell you is that you must stop doing things to hurt yourself. At best, they are diversions from the things that will help you get better. At worst, you might end up dead and not be able to work on things which can get better. And if you let yourself explore ALL your feelings without the background threat of self-harm, you will be much more able to experience the feelings and learn from them and eventually be a fuller person.

If letting individuals into your life is too threatening now, consider joining a group that focuses on something you enjoy. You'll be able to control how close people get and still have some contacts.

Good luck with a difficult problem.

You should seek help. There are so many people out there that are willing to listen to your problems, but like you said you aren't letting anyone in your life. Why not? What do you have to lose? Do you want to be this way forever? I think not! You are much better then that and deserve to live. Get out and enjoy life more. Hang out with an old friend you haven't seen in a long time and I promise you you'll feel better. Good luck and best wishes friend! Don't give up on yourself! If you or anyone needs help or someone to talk to email me. Have a good day!

I'm a nurse and a Christian. You are here for a reason, please stick around you are special. People will miss you if you ended your life, don't do it. You may think you have nothing to live for, but keep living and you'll see that you really do. I will be praying for you. Watch this movie and start a journal (it works well for me having my feelings on paper). God loves you and I care what happens to you. www.mayyoubeblessedmovie.com I also do things to make me feel better like a nice bubble bath or polish my nails. Spend more time doing things that make you feel good about you. I hope you are able to use this information. You deserve every good thing life has to offer. And the world would be a lonely place without you in it. You have much to offer this world, think about it. Kina

Sorry to sound harsh but you haven't tried to commit suicide, because you have failed. What you have done is cry out to those around you that you are in need of help. One of the first things to do when you need to pull yourself out of depression, is to take control of your life by getting help and stop letting other people take control for you. You can do it, you really can.

No, this is not normal. You are mentally ill. Are you drinking or drugging to help you deal with your feelings? This will only compound the problem. Make an appointment with your medical doctor or local mental health clinic. You need serious help, and you will get it. Depression messes with your thinking, and you are not thinking clearly right now.

by the emo and gothic assertion i'm going to anticipate you're particularly youthful and melancholy is so ordinary at that age(little ones or early 20s) which you would be extraordinary in case you probably did not experience it. I cried all of the time at that age and dealt with melancholy for years after that. I never chosen drugs, yet I prayed alot. I never felt suicidal to the element i could act on it, yet I recommend in case you do then you rather would desire to consult with somebody and get drugs in case you opt for it to be happy.lots of the time those issues will bypass away.you will desire to not feed your melancholy with hardship.attempt takingyour strategies off of issues once you could.
