I am running Windows XP Pro., (Spain).

My reason for asking this question is that I downloaded "Cache Clever", from http://www.oo-software.com (Germany). This program was a disaster, application errors, my pc would not shut down. etc. etc. Removed the evaluation an all was okay.

If you have "Systweak Cache Boost Enterprise", installed from this company in India, below, please advise if it works with the platform stated above and no application errors.

Plus can you advise indepth if you actually noticed any enhanced performance of your system.

I am a clinical psychiatrist an I am not in a position to have down time on my pc do to a software program written poorly.

Thanks to all who reply in advance.

My pc is brand new, I have 512MB 40..05 GB HDD 128 Kilobyte primary memory cache and 64 kilobyte secondary memory cahce.

Was just curious about all that technical data on the link. My pc actually runs fast and fine. As I use O&O defrag., plus the built in XP defrag, ccleaner, advanced registry doctor an Eusing free registry cleaner. Run Active Virus Shield, Adware Personal Se. Have no viruses or spyware.

Thanks to all as you are right these types of programs change your system settings.

Additional info based on the specifications above.

I run a few laptops which are almost always on. My setup is XP Pro on each one, I use Zone Alarm (free version, http://www.zonealarm.com), AVG anti-virus (free version, http://www.grisoft.com) and Windows Defender for spyware and to manage my start-up programs (www.microsoft.com/windowsdefender); I also use Perfect Disk for defragmenting my hard drive. That's it. No problems, no slow running and no cost!

Keep a good look at your system tray (lower right of the screen) and make sure you don't have too many icons in there. Each icon represents extra work for your PC.

Assuming that you are not plugging any software here and that you are looking for improved performance, ignore the cache cleaner and consider some more fundamental questions -

- is your computer fast enough to handle XP pro (what is the processor speed or how long ago did you buy it)?
- does your PC have enough memory? 256mb minimum, the more the merrier you will be.
- how much hard drive space do you have left? At least 1gb should be left after all of your software and documents.

If that is all in order, then you can look at reasons for poor performance - a virus, spyware, fragmented hard drive, too many services loading at start-up.

Post some more information about the probs and the system - we'll be able to make a better diagnosis that way :)

dont use those programs, they change a lot of things without you having any control over it. If you have a slow system defrag your HD (right click on the drive in the explorer and choose properties, next go to extra and select defragment.) and run a virusscan, this is a good only virus scan. http://www.trendmicro.com/hc_intro/default.asp

after this you should have a faster pc agian.
