If you're looking for projects to help your local community, check out your local Hands On Network affiliate. They have several one-time or short-term volunteer opportunities. You not only have the opportunity to help others, but you can also meet a lot of great people that enjoy helping your local community.

maybe Santa Monica pier. or go find a good restaurant. El Cholo on Western and ...8th? is a great one that is not too expensive.
