Yes, but it's not any worse than getting it done by a professional. I've pierced my ears in the past and haven't had trouble with infections. You want to be sure you sterilize the needle by either burning it or using rubbing alcohol. Numb the ear with ice... I even put the ice on the needle for a little bit. Then stick the needle through. The big thing about doing it yourself is that it takes quite a bit longer because the needle may not go through the skin easily. It may take some time. But a professional has the tools to do it quickly.

Yes, It's going to hurt. It hurts when someone else does it too. But it hurts worse to do it yourself, because it's usually with a needle and it takes some force to put that needle through your ear. You also need to think about getting the piercing straight and level on each ear. It's a bit of a hassle. Have someone else do it for you, it is quicker, easier, and cleaner. Don't run the risk of infection, you'll regret it.

it really depends on the tool u r using, like the shape of them, how sharp or blunt they are, how sterilised they are, how much force u apply when u are piercing ur ear. Actually, to save the risk, u may want to have your ears pierced professionally in some reputated stores. Some of them will even offer packages with remedial solutions included. These solutions helps in a quicker healing of the piercing loop to promote a faster formation of the loop, prevent self-sealing of the loop and minimize chance of bacterial invasions. Bear in mind, inflammation can be said as normal for pierced loop, no matter how long the ear is pierced. good luck

I'm a nurse. It's not too bad. I pierced my nose all by myself. I used ice to numb it before I burned a needle and then pierced the area. After that I put a earring in the area. Use peroxide on the area until healed. Take care.

Nope. I am a paramedic who does piercings as a side venture. I very really see people even flinch with ear piercings these days... just numb the ear first with some ice cubes for about 5 minutes then do it.
Also, make sure you clean it daily... Use some rock salt dissolved in warm water. make sure you clean the ear lobe (or wherever your doing it) first with some isopropal alcohol or something similar.
Good Luck

well it always hurts no matter what. but if you have the right stuff to do it then it should be just the same.
you need to clean it before though and you should pierce it with either a piercing gun or a piercing needle. be careful.

Well, it just hurts the same as if it would hurt someone who professionally did it. And, use ice to numb it. It works best. It kind of hurts, but if you numb it, nothing bad happens. But, make sure you use a clean, new needle. Or whatever you use. You might get a icky infection.

It depends on where on your ear you do it. I have 6 peircings in my ear and only two were done by a pro. The rest I did myself. But you have to be careful where you do it there is a nerve that can supposedly paralyze your face if you hit it. Dont know if its true or not.

yes, well I did it with just a sharp earing when I was about 15, and in my rebelious sage. I wanted second earing holes in my ears, and my mom wouldn't take me to get them done, so i did them myself. It hurts but not that much, and be careful not to ge an infection, those are gross!

yes of course, even if you let someone pierce it for you, it will still hurt you. no need to put anestesia, the pain will just last for 5-10 minutes then you will be ok.
