I have asked this question 3 times previously. All 3 questions have been reported and deleted.

I wonder why this question offends someone so much. I wonder what religion they claim to be?

In the gnostic gospels it is said that Jesus message was about enlightenment, not salvation. I say if you have enlightenment than you know there is no need for salvation because most souls cross over. Religion has nothing to do with the eternal life of your soul.

How do you live your life? In fear of hell? Or in pursuit of knowledge?

I believe in human enlightenment. Salvation is a Christian concept in which I do not believe. Enlightenment transcends religious dogma, tenets or beliefs - it is a state of mind. I do not need Jesus or any other religious icon to achieve enlightenment.

"Would you choose salvation or enlightenment.?" Salvation? this is being in heaven, then I choose this.
"How do you live your life?" As best I can following all of humanities laws.
"In fear of hell?" - Yes.
" pursuit of knowledge" - well a lazy pursuit, more off than on going. Usually, I read others accomplishments, and findings. (or watch PBS TV, Discovery channel, History channel programs, etc.). Learning things is better than being ignorant.

Enlightenment.
If there is salvation to be had, surely it will come through enlightenment. How could you have salvation in ignorance?

Of course the idea is also found in Buddhism and the thoughts of Socrates (Who stated the unjust simply didn't understand justice). Eastern religions tend to think of sin as a rather quaint notion.

I guess some people get offended with your question because it rattles their definition of right and wrong. That's too bad, because frankly it's one of the most interesting questions I've seen in this section in a long time.

maybe someone is reporting it for being 'illogical' or something? i haven't studied the guidelines enough to know what all the categories for being offended are...but i will say that with Christ you don't have to choose between salvation or enlightenment...now, this 'crossing over'...is that like a john edwards tv special kind of thing???? sorry, just being goofy...of course all souls cross over...but the destination is the key...i believe that there are two places to go...heaven (with God), and Hell(without God)...in the fifth chapter of John, Christ is addressing the religious leaders of the day who want to condemn Him for healing on the Sabbath, and He tells them that it is not the Father who judges, but that the authority to judge is given to Him, the Son...
i don't fear Hell, the debt has been paid with the blood of Christ, who lived, died, rose again, returned to heaven, sits at the right side of God, and is coming back again-God bless you!

Pursuit of knowledge. Actually, I don't try to understand why we're here, I'm obviously not supposed to know. I'm going to be the best person I can be and hope something horrible doesn't happen when my body gives out on me and I die.

Enlightenment. It will show my intelligence and my move towards bettering myself, instead of only fixing the mistakes once they arise. One, salvation, waits for something to happen, then tries to redeem themselves. Enlightenment can provide knowledge, so that things do not happen that need salvation.

gnostic gospels are false. I believe Jesus died in my place so I wouldn't have to. He rose to show if we accept Him, we too can defeat death(hell) Praise the Lord!
You are also confusing religion with Faith. Religions are man-made and rely on works to be saved. God offers a free Gift of Salvation ( Ephesians 2:8,9) You cannot EARN a Gift.

The gnostic gospels are not inspired by God. These gospels were written by men and men cannot save your soul this is why they push enlightenment. It is every bodies choice to believe or not to believe, I hope this will enlighten you to the truth of God's word not man.

In pursuit of knowledge. The really interesting thing about that is the more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.
