I'm working at a daycare this summer and i need craft ideas for kids ages1-3then for kids7-12. Have any ideas?

for ages 1-3..do not focus on an "end product"..IE, actually making something. They need their art to be very basic..safe..and messy!..finger painting with puddings..just using crayons on paper..or cut out shapes..paints with brushes..(mot sure the 1 year old would even hold the brush)..also remember at this age..it is all sensory and visual for them. Add some vanilla or mint extract to the paints..just let them go at it..swirl their hands around..or just dab the finger in it..whatever they like..and whatever they choose..it should be fun..and not forced

for older children, the can focus more on end product things..how about using sticks and they can make forts...or dream catchers...or
paper machie things..or ask them what they want to do...kids love the opportunity to think of their won creative ideas.

Hmm for the 7yrs...lol I think this might be a lil too much for 3yrs but what about making those tornado bottles..from 2 plastic soda bottles (the RC ones that are kind of fat not like the Coke ones that have the curve to them even though it might work) and you need to find that connector that will conect both bottles. Fill them with water and some food coloring to color the water. Pop a little bit of dirt...or rocks or twigs from outside and WA LA! Instand texas tornado. Just move the bottle real fast in a circle (with the water filled bottle on top upside down) and the tornado will start and water will drain to the bottle below. The rocks and dirt add a cool effect to it. I was AMAZED when i made those when I was a kid....

Though I could go on all day with ideas, the best place to look for ideas is by getting Oriental Trading to send a catalogue. There is an entire section of crafts and what not that you could either order or get great ideas from. Every holiday there are new ideas.

My favorite craft for this age group (and takes a few days) is the paper mache volcano - they get dirty and messy and love it and then at the end of the week you can mix baking powder and vinegar and food coloring and pour them into the cup that the volcano is built around and watch it explode.

Make magic pictures by first drawing with a candle then painting or drawing over it with crayons.....fascinating for kids!Make phones out of cans with a hole in bottom and string threaded thru can tie to a match on the bottom, pulled tight they take turns speaking and listening. Stilts out of 2 empty cans of same size with lids ....open lid measure a length of string doubled over and place ends of string in can put lids on then stand on cans hold looped string and walk....FUN!

well 1-3 is very sensory so how about hand painting feet painting stuff like that get them feeling and to add more sensory to that put sand in the paint
7-12 well that could depend what there interested in...observe them and then go from there

you can try out vegetable printing for the young ones, origami art for the older ones, even pencil shading might work to.try to build small items like bird out of waste or what is called junk art!its quite attractive!
