The existence of Jesus is not certain, although it is very probable.
The problem comes from a few technicalities. First, remember that "Jesus" was almost certainly not an authentic name, but rather a translation of a Jewish name of the time.
Second, if the Biblical accounts of Jesus' life are not inerrant (an inerrancy which is a matter of faith) then what stories have to be true for "Jesus" to be "Jesus?" Does he have to be a Jewish revolutionary who is crucified? Does he have to be born in Bethlehem? Does he have to be born of a virgin?
Now, I suspect that what you're referring to is the claim that there was a teacher who inspired a group of people to form a religion that became Christianity. And I agree, that person did exist.
But he might not be close enough to other people's idea of "Jesus" to let some people believe "Jesus" is real.

There are no references before the 17th century to any religious figure named "Jesus". Josephus was discredited by nearly every other Roman historian, and has had serious questions raised about his work in recent scholarship. Tacitus, Pliny and Lucian mentions the title Christ(us) but nothing else, so they could refer to anyone. And all of these sources refer to him as a man, not a god-man. So, though there is some reason to believe Jesus (Yeshua) was a real person, it is no more conclusive than the evidence for the existence of Socrates, which is still a major question among academics. The need to "educate" oneself apparently goes both ways.

Yes I get tired of it.
I agree that the bible stories about Jesus are complete and utter nonsense. I think there is a small possibility that there was such a person, and perhaps some of his philosophies made their way into the bible in distorted form. It is possible "jesus" was actually an amalgam of several different wandering philosophers.
I think it is much more likely that there was no such person at all. There really is NO credible evidence of his existence outside of his mention in the bible. Please don't mention Josephus and Eusubius and others...those references are extremely vague, and most likely because of later christian editing.
There are some excellent websites if you want to learn more on the lack of evidence for such a person ever existing. Here's three to get you started.

Hallelujah. An intelligent person. You're right! Even if people choose not to believe the Bible, they can't ignore all the history. Well, let me rephrase that. Most people can't ignore the history. I've read too many questions and answers. It's as if some of these people could be looking straight at a black cow and swear it was white. Ha!

Yes I agree with you that Jesus was a real person. He was born by Mary the daughter of Imran prophet family. He was not a son of God because Allah is the only one God.God has no child and no parents.By Allah's authority he was born without father.Jesus was a prophet for Jews.Allah gave a holy book called Bibel to Jesus as the life guidance for him and his followers as an updated of holy book Torach which had been given by Allah through Moses prophet..Jesus as a real person ate and drank and slept at night. He was raised by Zakaria prophet.

Althou I'm a bit confused with your question, and what ur really askin, i agree with u on that last sentence. I don't agree that the Bible is full of nonesense however. I bleieve everything the Bible says about Jesus (not only that he was a real person), and i believe that he will return one day.

I agree with you on all accounts except for one. Christianity came from that power hungry, back stabber Peter. And it wasn't referred to as Christianity until about 150 years after Jesus died.
Personally, and aside from your comment, I think Jesus must have been really cool. I mean to go hiking in the desert with no water for 40 days! that takes some nads. And to get thousands of people to follow you in those days, he must have been very tough and commanding. In addition to his strength I bet he was a hella fun cat to drink with.

Most historians agree that Jesus did exist in the flesh. Though there are a few that contend that he never existed. Personally I believe he did but don't be so quick to condemn those who believe he didn't.

THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING BUT THE LAST SENTANCE!
christianity didn't come from jesus. it was around before jesus (thus why mary taught jesus that he was the son of god) and mary was a christian because her parents were christians and their parents were, etc.
