patrone you're correct. Intelligent life did not come about by chance. Any Darwinist would agree with you. It came about as a result of evolution over many thousands of years. Can you suggest, with intellectual honesty, that life was designed yet the designer of life was himself not designed?

Charles: Your first point is ludicrous. It may have been difficult for you to believe these organs were a result of evolution but that could only be because you don't know how evolution works.
Your second point is interesting but mislead. Take evangelical Christians for example. They believe that they and only they can be saved. Hence, by your logic there's no point in being a Catholic or anything but an evangelical Christian if you want to be on the "safe side". Muslims believe the same thing. How do you win?

Chad R: You're asking for a logical reason not to believe in God. Can I ask you for a logical reason not to believe in fairys? We simply don't because theres nothing to suggest either one exists. I can't prove there is no god (or faries) I can simply rely on the balance of evidence.

Muslim Rose: Firstly, you can't apply the word dogma to scientific theories because they are susceptible to change IN THE LIGHT OF NEW EVEDENCE. Unlike religious dogma. Secondly, Marxism and Freudism were not scientific theories. The former was a flawed social theory and the latter is a contreversial psychological theory. The point being that neither were based on solid evidence (unlike Darwinism).
You suggest that humans cannot force nature to deviate from it's predestined coures but you, who admonishes science for not having tangible proofs, do not have evidence that anything does have a predestined course. You don't accept Darwinism because you say there's no tangible evidence yet you willingly accept the existence of a soul and a God without applying the same scrutiny.

Impossible Dream: Logic is not relative any more than mathematics or physics is. Headaches are measurable and detectable, god is not. T

First of all, there is overwhelming evidence all around that God exists. For example, have you ever seen an autopsy? It was difficult for me not to believe after I saw the actual organs inside the body and fascinating how these could function together with completely separate functions. How could this have evolved entirely from plankton? How could this human machine of organs be possible without a design or creator?

Secondly, Blaise Pascal was a great mathematician. He waged others that there was a God and that if you believed, you would have the probability of an eternity of happiness. If you waged against God, then there was a probability that you would have an unpleasant afterlife. So given the two options, the Wager for God is a better decision because it is the more logical choice. There is no proof about the Bible, but if you choose for God, then one would believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God. Also, I think a lot of people are in denial. All you have to do is REALLY look around at the complexity and design of life and how can a person not believe in a creator? Can you prove God does Not exist? I certainly cannot. I choose God......

There are tons of reasons, but to keep it simple, here are just a couple things I think about when contemplating such a question.

You are walking through a desert. Dry, hot, no water or food. You happen upon a house. You go inside and the cupboards are full of food. There is running water, air conditioning and all comforts you could think of. The over all design of this house is pure beauty to your eyes. The question could then be asked. Did this house just come about by chance or did someone design and build it?

You see in color and find true joy in the beautiful array of colors that surround you. You smell and taste the wonderful foods that are seemingly unlimited. Do you need to see in color, smell or taste in so many different levels in order to survive or is it a gift from a loving creator?

ADDITIONAL:

Can a perfect vase ever hope to understand the master craftsman that created it? The creature could never hope to become equal to his Creator or understand all the workings of His mind. But He can be found and approached, and like a good parent supplies a child with the necessities and teaching to have a happy life, God supplies his worshiper with all that is necessary for his worshiper’s welfare and happiness.
The fact of the existence of God is proved by the order, power, and complexity of creation, macroscopic and microscopic, and through his dealings with his people throughout history. In looking into what might be called the Book of Divine Creation, scientists learn much. One can learn from a book only if intelligent thought and preparation have been put into the book by its author.

(Sorry, I know this is long-winded)

Easy: everyone needs something to believe in, if you look around, you'll notice that there are people that believe in all kinds of things, not just God.

Human beings are phycologically fragile, and need the comfort of having something that they feel they can count on, whether that is the belief that you are terrific on your job and will get a great raise because of it, or the belief that you have some wonderful place to go to when you die as long as you try to be a good person. I believe in God because the closer I look at life and all the things that exist and happen in the world, the complexity of it all, it's just mind-boggling that some intelligence isn't behind it all.

If you consider how everything interacts with everything else, and how things work, down to the atoms, dna, all that stuff - how could all that be from chance? That, and the fact that human beings are the only beings on this planet that enjoy the intelligence and technology that we have (in spite of some very stupid people that like to ruin things for everyone).

We could have evolved alongside many other intelligent beings with very different abilities and forms, but that did not happen, and that is one of the biggest reasons that I believe in God. If we were here through chance, don't you think that there should have been other "races" of intelligent beings that were very different from humans? Just like there are many different species of animals on the planet? Also, although some religious people negate the evolution process and nay-say science and the dinosaurs, I think that God recycles, and I think that before He/(She?It?) made man and the world we know now, he had other things going on with this planet that were in "His" own interests, and he just wiped the slate clean when he was done with his experiments (look at the story of Noah and the flood!). It's not like He hasn't considered doing that with us at least once already.

Thing about it, if you were a "god" and you could do anything at all, and were given, say, a universe to work with, that was basically blank, you could do anything with it... what would you do? Look at the things that people do now with the Sims, for example. People love to play "god".

I think that back in Jesus' time, people were very ignorant, simple-minded and easily shook up, anything we have today would fall under the label as either witchcraft or god-powers. But people learn and grow, and as they learn, they become powerful, and a lot of them become money and power hungry, and those are things that kill civilizations. That is what I think killed all those civilizations that we find buried now. Atlantis could have existed, but people were greedy and full of themselves and they destroyed themselves. Who is to say we won't do the same?

But in the end, if you were a god and you wanted your little planet of people to live and thrive, what would you do to help them learn not to be greedy and power hungry so they don't destroy themselves? I think even God has problems trying to make humanity fly right, and even with "His" powers, he can't just *make* people be good (That's not in the rules). They have to learn how to be good, by their own hands, not "His". If you read in the Bible, (I know, it was written by men, not "God") you will see many stories of God trying to teach men not to do things that are bad, but it doesn't say much about "Him" coming down to earth and confronting everyone about what they are doing wrong and telling them how to do it right. Who has time to do that? I think God has other planets and other issues to baby-sit, not just Earth.

Sorry I'm so long winded, but this is a big subject, and it covers a lot of things! :) I hope this at least gives you a unique perspective on it.

Logic is relative really, what seems logical to one person isnt nessisarily logical to the next.

One logical reason to believe in God is because billions of people have experienced Him enough to never doubt His existance. Now that isn't proof of course because you yourself obviously havent. But how about if you have never had a headache before, would you believe they exist? There is no proof for them either other than those who have experienced them, know they have. There is no scientific measure for them yet no one doubts them because so many people have "said" they had one. Why cant the same logic be applied to God?

I can tell you why I believe, but whether you believe is your choice. To me, the universe has a perfect order to it, from how life is created to the sustaining of life, and how it cycles. Just go into nature and see how a tree grows from a seed, etc. Yes, it's scientific, but how did the wheels ever get set in motion in the first place?

But it's your right to agree or not, I'm just saying why I believe.

There is a God. No one had to teach me how to breath, or believe. Atheists always worship at the alter of their own intelligence, assuming that the known boundaries of science is all there is. God is the great I AM and you will find Him if you seek Him, with all your heart.

I would not want to live in a world without God. We would be as children, lost to their parents, telling each other how brave and smart we are. How very sad.

You are like me. We are both broken.

Love God with all your heart and love one another as I have loved you. No religion, just Him.

I was created to live in paradise, in constant Communion with God. Driven out of Eden, there exists a hole, an emptiness, in all of us. We choose our path. Would God create robots who had no choice but to worship Him? Same as my children have free will, we are free to deny our maker.

As far as being the master of your own fate, I believe you live in chains. There is a dark side to this life, same as the light exists. You are too smart to believe in fables, but, if satan did exist, I believe he would use mankind’s religion against Him. Spirituality has little to do with religion. Most atheists buy the lies that satan sells.

God loves me and Jesus live in me. The Holy Spirit comforts me. These statements, to you, make me sound mad, but, my belief is such that I would gladly die before denouncing my God. He has made Himself real to me, in ways I cannot explain or excuse, and I’m sad that you don’t have that.

I believe that there is a part of you and I that remembers what it felt like to live with God, maybe it’s in our DNA. Coming to God was coming home, more relational that anything I’ve ever experienced or imagined I could. I believe He is waiting for you. His greatest wish is that none should perish.

Our thoughts are not His thoughts. Don’t waste your time trying to know the mind of God, seek His heart instead.

I hope this helps.

You can't give me one logical reason not to believe in God.

You say there are no Fairies how do you defend it logically. Not by beliefs. There are many books written about fairies. A lot of people believe in them. Many people have claimed to see them. Logically disprove the fairy.

I don't believe we were ever on the Moon. All I see is pictures I have never been there myself. We haven't gone there is many years yet supposedly we have better technology. There are a lot of books written about a government conspiracy to steal our money. The only people who supposedly went go there are Government personal. Prove it.

Creation - God says that is good enough evidence that He will use it to hold people accountable for belief in Him.
Romans 1:19 ...because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse."

Logically... how can "logic" itself be defined without having been "created" by an omnipotent being? Logically, the human mind is incapable of reasoning with full balance to "truth" , because the human mind can only observe what is within the grasp of mortal senses. Yet much phenomenon exists that "logic" (applying to human logic) is incapable of understanding nor explaining.

So my question to you is: Can you give me a logical reason not to believe in God? (and by Logical - I mean being able to explain phenomenon with facts rather than speculation)

A logical reason.... I can think of a few. The vast and wonderful, beautiful Earth we live on, how everything works together so we can thrive on this planet, the love you feel in your heart for your Mom, Dad, siblings, friends, and the main one is because you will get to spend eternity with Him in The Kingdom of Heaven when your body dies.
