Raised and trained correctly, of course they can.
Hang on a minute you said a lab, I revise my opinion, no dog is as loyal as a Labrador.
Just remember, dogs are animals and as such have the ability to behave like one if provoked.

If you've watched the show The Little rascals or Our Gang Comedy ,Petey who was a APBT was those kids best friend. Christine Crawfords sar Pits are sometimes our saving grace in saving human lives. They put their lives on the line for humans ,the same for Popsicle and Neville who are drug detection dogs that put their lives on the line for humans.The same for APBT therapy dogs. They visit nursing homes and hospitals to make sick people happy .All these dogs can be mans best friend. APBT can be good dogs in the right hands and treated with love , being part of the family and having proper socialization. A dog that's denied this can be a dog that can become aggressive.This can go for any breed of dog that's treated poorly and not a part of family.I've owned 5 APBT in 19 years. All 5 dogs have been treated as a part of my family , and all 5 have been my famalies best friend.

I used to work at an animal shelter, we had a lot of Pit Bulls come in. Know what? I never once felt threatened by any of those dogs, they were all extremely sweet and friendly. So the answer to your question is a resounding yes. Nasty Pits are only a result of bad owners.

ABSOLUTELY!! I truly believe that it is all on how you raise them. I have fostered 2 pit bulls (one pup and one adult) As a breed they are very loyal and people pleasers (Which makes it VERY VERY sad to realize that fighting dogs are just doing what their owners taught them. )
They are very intelligent and act just like children (they can be stubborn or may test you by not doing what you ask- BE CONSISTANT) and when raised around kids do great as family pets. My sister has one who mothers her 1 year old twins. Just socialize them very well. Do little things like take the food out of their mouth while they are eating and reward them with a treat. Tug gently on ears and tails, startle them- all with affection. They will soon become used to commotion and being handled which helps alot. All positive reinforcement. Do not hit a dog who is nipping or barking at you as they will either be freightened of hands (and may react poorly later on) or will get more aggressive thinking you are playing. Use your judgement and be firm- you are their parent- act that way and do not ever be scared of your own dog- and they will be your best friend for life. Sweet breed- as long as you let them. :)

If handled and trained correctly any dog can be a mans best friend especially pits. They are an awesome breed of dog and if raised correctly and bred right are awesome companions.

Yes, they can be much better than a lab or a golden, it's how you raise them and their general personality, not the breed.

hi there yes they can it depends how u train them as they grow up. I've had and seen pit bulls to know that only the owner or trainer can know their out come in life. mines was kill only cause he pee upstairs after many times trying to save his life by a person that had nothing better to do but be selfish. till today I miss my white red nose pit bull. my pit bull & his female mate had puppies that grow up to be calm and loving only cause the owner was lovable pit bulls are train as u would train them to become. but that is only my experience. I had my pitbull cremated and his picture all together in my living room. god bless

I have owned Pit's for 14 years and people think they are such bad dogs. First off, it's the way they are raised, like any dog, as long as you give them love and treat them like any animal should be treated they will be your best friend. They are more harmless than poodles if treated right. LOVE THEM...

yes what most people don't understand is that pits r people pleasers and will do ANYTHING for positive attention! i have 2-a 11mo old male and a 4mo old female they follow me and my kids around everywhere and ive NEVER had a prob wit either of them! by the way my kids r 4&7 yr old girlz and they love these dogs to death! they sleep with us in bed, love going in the car and never got aggressive towards another dog or person

Yes. Its all about the way you treat it. Some pitbulls that they show on t.v. are treated bad or cared for. They defintely can be a mans best friend.

Any dog can be man best freind just train and give them a lot of love.When you recieve your pit be loving, but in control at all times....Good luck..
