I think gastric bypass is a good option if you are extremely overweight. It is not meant for people that may be 50-70 lbs overweight.
Yes, there is some risk involved, since this is major surgery. But many people have had great results.
Of course, the most important thing is, choose a very experienced doctor (preferably a doctor that is associated with a respected university hospital). If this is an issue about money as well, call in and get some free advice from the staff or doctor first, before you schedule an appointment.

I am friends with 2 people who have had that procedure done. Both were over 300lbs and needed this to help them control their eating intake. Bth have shed some amazing pounds. However a gastric bypass is very aggressive treatment and does alter your eating lifestyle forever. I would suggest to you this: If you are not over the 300lb mark, then maybe try a sensible eating plan or talk with a Nutrionist. If you are an overeater and have a hard time controlling your appetite, then you have a food addiction and there are many terriffic Counselors that could help you on to a road of Victory. Either way, Good luck to you hon...

My mom had it done back in the 80's. She was 264lbs and had a severe blood pressure problem. She had tried all kinds of diets to no avail. She lost 132 lbs in about a years time. She has held that weight (give or take a few pounds) ever since then. I think if you are obese (or morbidly obese) and no other options have worked, then go for it. You could also try the less invasive Lap Band surgery. My friend had that done almost a year ago and she has lost 103 lbs. You still have to change your eating habits with either surgery. My mom couldn't eat more than a teaspoon of anything for the longest time after having it done. She still isn't a big eater. Good luck.

gastRic pass surgical operation is executed while a man or woman is obese and is unable to lose the burden via different (fit) skill...in spite of the undeniable fact that i'm beneficial there are exceptions and a few human beings can get previous those issues, listed under are some 'standards': -you have been obese for a minimum of 5 years. - you do not have a historic previous of alcohol abuse. - you do not have untreated melancholy or yet another important psychiatric affliction. - you're between 18 and sixty 5 years of age Anorexia has a tendency to leave a man or woman completely malnourished, while a gastric pass bodily limits your intake of foodstuff, in a project the place that's nutritionally risk-free. because of the fact anorexia has no controls (like surgical operation does, with a doctor's supervision), its lots extra risky.

It's extremely dangerous! Do not have this surgery unless it's a matter of life or death. Good luck to you. In the meantime, try exercising and eating well as an alternative to surgery.

if you are so fat you are about to drop dead anyway...it is a viable option. otherwise it is unsafe and drastic. imagine your stomach only being able to hold one ounce at a time!!! i would prefer to eat lots of low fat foods than to puke and have the craps every time i ate more than one ounce.
