They are jealous that atheists are born with superior intelligence, pure souls, and good looks, while theists are … well … theists.
I wish God was real because atheists must certainly be his greatest creation.
That means I could end up at St. Peter’s Topless Bar & All-Eternity Casino partying with America’s Founding Fathers and a few dozen angel-babes, while conservative Christians will be working at Lucifer’s Laundromat pre-treating the skid marks in God’s underwear.
-------------------------------
Whoa there Jennifer J –
Check your dictionary. A-theism is only disbelief in God – nothing else. And, it makes no difference. You know that you never really see or hear God, so whether you believe in him or not, the reality-based world stays the same.
Atheists do not generally feel the same void you do. Your statement about needing something to believe in is, I think, more a statement about your own psychology and emotional needs than that of atheists.

I'm sorry that you feel you are hated for being an atheist. I am a devout Christian...do you hate me? I don't think so. I certainly don't hate you or anyone else for their beliefs. Being judgmental isn't my job thank goodness! You probably will enjoy life more if you associate with others who believe as you do...that's what I find most comforting. If you don't mind I will pray for you...can't hurt, right? :) Keep positive thoughts and love in your heart as you are doing. You sound like a very likeable person. Take care.

Believers tend to feel antipathy for atheists because Atheism actively denies the existence of the God that serves as the sense of purpose for most believers.
A true Atheist is living his or her life by a different set of guidelines than a believer, which means the Atheist is a threat to the Believer's world view.
And the faith of Believers is a threat to the Atheists world view as well.

I do not hate you for being an atheist. I just think you need to learn about God! What harm can it do to believe in God? I would rather believe in God than believe in nothing at all. You are afraid to have something positive to believe in. I think it is sad that people get offended by God and take Prayer out of our schools. Just like you we have a choice and I believe in God. Maybe you should try going to Church and opening your heart a little. You might be surprised.

Don't sweat about it. I'd be pretty disappointed if there wasn't at least one or two people out there who hated me for being an atheist. Sometimes it's a mark of quality to be hated by certain types of people. Doesn't mean you have to hate anyone back. Just let them be and beat them off with a stick if they come at you.

Why am I hated for being a Christian?
Don't you folks know I love you all?
Quit being so mean to me please.
You aren't hated. Christians just want to share with you the goodness we have found in Christ. We do not want anyone to suffer eternally b/c you have rejected Him.

How do you know that people hate you? Or how do you know if they love you? Love and hatred do not come from outside; they come from inside; they come from your heart. So if your heart is full of love for all people sure they will love you and if they really do not love you, you will certainly feel they love you. Love and hatred can never co-exist in one heart. Search you heart first and see if you really love all people, only then can you answer your question honestly.

Perhaps when things are said the right way with compassion it wouldn't seem as hate but love. But things never come out right anyways.
