Hi there...hematuria (blood in urine) means your cat most likely has a lower urinary tract infection and needs to be seen by a vet immediately. Some cats can develop a urethral blockage which IS life-threatening and if not treated within 24-48 hours is FATAL.

[edit] no, the kitten is not the cause of the urinary disorder. This is caused by diet. Your vet will explain this in more detail. You DO need to please get your cat to the veterinary hospital ASAP!!!

Your cat most likely has a urinary tract infection. You need to get him to a vet ASAP. Cats' often produce crystals in their urine-this is usually caused by too much Taurine in their diet. The problem is that in male cats the crystals can cause a blockage and can be potentially fatal. If the cat can't urinate, the urine backs up into the kidney and then into the blood stream.
He is passing urine so he is not blocked-yet.
Yes the new kitten could have something to do with this. The cat is under stress and often stress causes these infection .

Your cat almost certainly has a UTI. Either that or kidney problems. Either way, he needs to see a vet NOW. If your clinic isn't open, take him to an emergency clinic. If there's not an emergency vet clinic in your town/city; start calling vet clinics. Some of them have 24/7 staffing and can get your cat seen.

Stress is a major contributor to urinary problems and he sounds like he is experiencing with this new "intruder" in his life. Blood is a serious symptom and you need to have a vet check it out tomorrow as long as he is able to pass urine he will not die. And it hurts! So get help for him as soon as possible.

You need to take him to the vet. If you wait he may die. Probably has a urinary tract infection but if left unattended he could become obstructed and become very ill
