The original car was totally made overseas. It has always kept that designation. It may be assembled in America, and even some of the parts come from America. You can bet that ALL the profits go back to Japan. By the way there is a BIG difference between assembled in America and MADE IN AMERICA.

It's a Japanese made car. It originated in Japan and now has a manufacturer company in America. You know what else is neat! When ever a car that is made from Japan needs a replacement part, it has to come from the American Toyota company and visa versa. If you have a Toyota and want to know if it was made in America or Japan...look at the first few letters in the VIN number located on the side of the drivers door and under the hood. If it starts with JT it was made in Japan. If it starts with 4T it was made in America. The best Toyota made in my opinion was the Japenese made ones! They hardly broke down.

Why an "import"? Old habits take a long time to die. The "big three" thinks it's top their advantage, but of course the big 3 isn't the the big 3 any more either. Finally, no one is interested in the truth.
