If your sony is a good camera, it will give you options to choose from, concerning the quality and the size of your pictures. Both is important for your question. The higher the quality is, the fewer pictures you can load on your memory stick, and the same goes for the quality of the pictures.
The other day I took pics with top setting, and they were each 9 mb large. Of those I could have put 14 on a 128mb card, but my camera has less pixels than yours. So if you take images with top settings, they will be larger than 9mb !

Depends on the megapixil settings you use when you take the pics (if you used a digitial camera) The higher the pixels, the more space the picture file takes up, and the less you can store.
Same with regular picture files... the file sizes depend on the pixil resolution of the file. The larger the pic, the larger the file will be.

Average picture size of medium quality = 500kb ..A 4GB memory stick will hold approximately 8,000 photos. Average 'above average' quality image = 1MB ..A 4GB memory stick will hold approximately 4,000 photos. Average high quality image = 2MB-3MB ..a 4GB memory stick will hold approximately 2,000-3,000 photos. To hold 300 pictures you can easily get away with a 512MB stick, but this is assuming your pictures are ~1-to-1.25MB each. To be safe, or if you want higher quality images, get something 1GB or higher. 4GB is ideal to be safe. Plus, they're cheap.

It's going to depend on what file format and resolution settings you select. At the highest resolution, it may only hold 10 or so, but at the lowest, it can hold several hundred.
