Develop healthy eating and exercise habits now. It's easier to do it as a teen than in middle age, and when you go off to college, you will have the tools to avoid the Freshman 15.

Eat - well balanced diet with 5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables, low-fat dairy products, fiber-rich carbohydrates, and lean protein sources. The site below will guide you.
And... exercise! At least 30 minutes, 3 times a week.

Unless your doctor has put you on a diet or suggested one, then don't worry too much about a pound or two, since teens are still growing, and bodies are shifting.

Do NOT do what I did as a teen. I fasted. 2 lbs a day is what I could lose reliably, and I only passed out when I stood up too fast.
Then, my metabolism slowed down so that even fasting didn't work!

Try the South Beach diet (the book is only about $12 on Amazon.com). Best, healthiest way to lose and keep it off. I lost 30 lbs 3 years ago and am still sticking with the diet (phase 3 is the way you learn to eat forever and it's delicious!)

The goal is healthy...not die....t. You need to eat three healthy , nourishing meals a day with three small healthy, nutritious snacks to keep your blood sugar from falling which in turn causes you to overeat and eat the wrong foods. this in turn causes fat and low self esteem...you feel you have no control. the truth is you just need to plan ahead. buy and prepare healthy food ahead of time so you don't have to grab fast food and unhealthy foods. It makes your life easier if you plan ahead and make the foods and snacks in smaller packages so you can grab them and go. You need protein. P.B. with apples, carrots or celery. Yogurt, cottage cheese, bits of cheese witha few crackers, a handfull of nuts with some raisins, dried fruit, grapes and fruit dip, these are all snacks that you can have that are good for you. Just make sure to have them handy to grab every day. No soda, diet soda makes you crave more diet soda, it is full of sodium...opt for water and small glasses of juice daily. Whole grain cereal, breads and crackers are filling and provide the fiber you need. Eggs, boiled or poached, oatmeal with brn. sugar, small portiuons of chicken, lean beef and lean ham is protein and is good for you. We all need iron and B-12 and folate which we get from beef. Veggies are a must. Use a smaller plate to control portion size, then have seconds on salads and less dressing or veggies but not potatoes or white bread or white pasta. The white flour and potatoes are not healthy. Eat whole grain whenever possible. The whole grain breads are filling and lasting. That keeps your blood sugar from falling and staves off hunger. So, it's a lifestyle of eating healthy that you want. Not to starve and trick the body into the starvation mode...it won't let go of fat then at all....you have to feed it good nutritious food. that is the only way to loose weight and stay healthy. Good luck.

Portion control is critical.
When you eat, only eat three things, each of these things should be the size of your fist. And thats it. Each of those things should be one part of the food group...ex. one fruit, one meat, on grain

You have to stay active, join a gym, take a neighbors/your dog for a walk..ect.

What i do is snack throughout the whole day til 5 then eat the meal above then not eat until breakfast again. You are supposed to eat every 2-3 hours. (this doesn't count as vending machine food).

Pre pack meals is also a way to stop over indulging on food.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Get started today!

What I do is this. Pick an amount of fat that you cannot go over each day or calories, or you can pick an amount of fat (etc) that one food item that can't go over a designated amount (Like for chips, if it's over 5 grams of fat (Five grams is what I chose) then I won't eat it). It helps to have at least 70% of all your food to be natural, non-prossesed. Also to be in a sport, I do track and soccer. Also to have your own work out plan, mine is this; at least one a day, 100 crunches, 20 push ups, 10 mins of strait sprinting, and 10 mins of streghting.

Eat less, move more. Cut back 500 calories a day from your food intake, and burn 500 calories a day in exercise... You can lose 2 pounds per week at that rate.

Some teens use cocaine and lose alot of weight.

However, that isn't legal in most places and often has some side effects.

there is a new diet that works perfectly. at the begining of every month don't eat for ten days. Then eat three healthy meals a day for the rest of the month. Also get a habit of doing 100 situps every night before you go to sleep. It's a lot easier than it sounds. trust me. It helped me a lot.
