A few that seem popular with people I know-- social dance class (almost always more girls than guys), outdoors clubs, people you talk to while waiting for an infrequent bus, church/Bible groups, community recreational programs and classes (martial arts, photography, intro to art, volley ball teams, running "clinics").
Try striking up conversation almost anywhere (sometimes throwing out a comment or a simple question is all it takes to break the ice... if they're interested, they'll pick up on the invitation to continue a conversation or flirt)
Besides that... I think that's what a lot of people today wonder. Welcome to the club!
