out there. I want to share something I came across today: http://www.realization.org/page/doc0/doc0015.htm --- It made me realign my personal journey, as well as how i feel about my journey thusfar. What do you think about the description of this person's "awakening"?

Yes, the idea of desiring to stop desiring enlightenment is the obsession of thought trying to grab on to itself so that enlightenment can occur. Now, modern logic will tell us that the mind is our rational tool for distinguishing that which is true from that which is false. We can go insane turning our minds inside out, but if we want to live happily and productively we must use our rational faculty.

I do not know what it means to abandon ALL desire and remain in permanent contemplation of the absolute, but unless I move to a Himalayan monastery and cut myself off from all the life I know, I will never know that type of enlightenment. Is it really important? If it were for me, I would abandon wife, children, house, and job and disappear? Is it possible? Is it rational? I am not unhappy with my life. I am productive, I am moral, I have good relationships, I enjoy music, sunsets, and beauty. Some people have to go to the Himalayas to find the beauty of rational reasoning that was always within themselves.

It's certainly consistent with the way I've understood it to work. I especially liked his pointing out the paradox of "desiring" to be enlightened. Trying is necessary but trying ultimately gets in the way. It's not about "me" reaching some "level", it's about realizing what is. And until this is experienced, words can only crudely suggest the path.

As always, the result is compassion. Perhaps by practicing that along with the meditation, we will make better progress.

lol wonderful
when you give up seeking you are met with new things to seek ... always the way isnt it
i can relate very much here in many ways
as you know i am a medium
and sometimes i get so many spirits and the readings come thick and fast
and sometimes nothing ... so i stop and think about giving up
i wait weeks and nothing happens
and i think ... ok maybe thats it , no more spirit , no more readings
then of course you know what happens
spirit
this isnt just with mediumship , but with many aspects of my spiritual development
the moment we think there is nothing left to seek out .... thats when we are hit with a bang
