When you need to substitute chocolate chips for melting bar chocolate you need to add some shortening-not butter-to it to match the consistancy. I cannot remember how much shortening to how much chocolate chips but I am sure that you can look it up on the internet.

Choc. chips probably have a bit less cocoa butter in them than the melting chocoalte. But for most things, choc. chips melt nicely and will work fine.

You don't want to use milk choc chips, tho, to melt. They will burn and scorch and lump. Yikes! Semisweet or bittersweet chips work best.
