also her mom won't let her try any kind of chemical process on it AT ALL, not even if they do it themselves.

Right now I have a really poofy afro that I need to tackle... :)

After washing and conditioning my hair, I use very little products in my hair, as it would only weigh it down and make it limp. I use Farouk Biosilk Silk Therapy before blow drying (in the direction of which I would like to style) and then I use a ceramic flat iron. Previously, I used the Maxiglide flat iron that steams the hair and softens it. That worked wonders. However, since I broke it I bought the Conair Infiniti ceramic curling iron / flat iron... that works fine also. After that I use very little and light oil on my hair afterward for any flyaways. An oil sheen can work well too.

The Biosilk costs about $10 for a small bottle and $30 for the very large bottle. The Maxiglide iron is over $100 and can be ordered on www.maxiusbeauty.com. The Conair iron can be bought in a store like Walmart or Target.

Farouk Chi ceramic irons, which my hair dresser uses, are excellent as well... however, they cost between $100 to $200 or more.

We all know by now that using a conditioner is necessary to control frizzy hair. The trick is to leave the conditioner on for a few minutes before rinsing it out. If you have extra time, try wrapping your hair in a towel with the conditioner on and let your hair "soak" for about 10-15 minutes. Then rinse it out.

When you're done, wrap your hair in a towel for several minutes to get out the access water instead of rubbing the towel over your head. Both towel rubbing and brushes lead to hair breakage and make it much more vulnerable to frizzy hair.

Try just putting on some mousse and comb it in. Let air dry and don't run your fingers or a comb through it until it's completely dry. Using a blow dryer in hot weather will probably make the problem worse. If you want your hair straight and that's the only way you can get it that way, then by all means, use the dryer. Just use the cool setting and don't use it every day.

"Pink hair oil moisturizer" quite cheap for a big bottle and lasts ages.

Pink hair products google to look for retailer.

Also any serum kind of product, whilst blowdrying hold the hairdryer down blowing down on hair to smooth the hair shaft and invest in a large round bristle brush and when hair has been styled spray hairspray on a comb and comb through the hair.

Also at night if she sleeps with a satin scarf or i know it sounds silly but tights on her head can also help keep it flattened.

If she goes to a hair salon they can usually thin her hair with hair thinning scissors. They are scissors that you use close to the scalp and they only cut some of the hair, not all of it. It's hard to explain. She might be able to buy the hair thinning scissors at Sally beauty supply and do it herself. Maybe this way she wouldn't weigh her hair down with products and wouldn't need to spend so much time on it. Hope this helps.

A 3 hour hair wash should do it. And remember to tell her to apply lots of conditioner. It helps me because my hair gets messy, so I tame it with conditioner, and it works! And if it still is poofy, tell her to put more conditioner and to curl it a bit.

ok well i have straight hair but when i wash them they get really poffy, my suggestion is tell her stop using shampoo, only use conditionner not shampoo. i know u might think it sounds wierd not using shampoo, and only using conditonner, but if i only use cond. then my hair doesn't poff, u should tell if she can buy a massagin oil and use that on her hair, it's natrual and not chemicals i use that to. it relaxses my hair and make it soft and shiny and u can buy it at an idian store or at ur hairdresser . but for the conditionner, i think u should tell her to use l'oreal vivi por for straigh hair the ornage bottle ones and tell her to wash her hair after every oither 2 days, if she does this her hair wont poff not kiding i do this and my hair dont poof
