My friend started to have trouble breathing a few minutes ago. She says she's ok but I don't know. She says that she is breathing in air but it feels like it is not doing anything. Any suggestions? She just took some abuterol from her inhaler. She told me not to call 911 but I want to know if I should. She's also coughing like theres something in her throat.

I'm a paramedic, and have asthma. It's been 4 minutes since you posted this message. If she's still having trouble breathing please call 911. Coughing is common with an asthma attack its harder to breathe out than to breathe in. You can also give her another puff of her inhaler, you can give a total of 3. If in doubt call 911, you can always tell them she's better when they get there!

Why would she tell you NOT to call 911? If she is telling you this stuff then she is able to speak, at least a little bit, but god, get off Yahoo answers and use your brain and go call 911. Who cares what SHE thinks? Do what YOU know is right and call an ambulance. Get her to a hospital and possibly save her life, because if she dies because YOU listened to HER, then it is your fault and OMG, you will have to live with that forever!

And oh yeah, I think you are full of crap and your story is made up!

She may be suffering from a sore throat. Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. More details and home remedies available at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html

sounds like an asthma attack...if she has albuterol...she probably has asthma...have her drink coffee or something with caffeine in it..this helps open up the airway..if she bends over this will help too...if you dont feel comfortable then i would call someone...do you know anyone that can come over and get their opinion. Asthma attacks are scary...i have a lung problem as well. Good luck to you.
