I know several people with visible moles of skin color on or about the face, One in particular , on his ear lobe covers the whole thing, He accepted it and still has it .. The other person had a large one in the sideburn area and also one on the neck .. He finally had them both removed after having them for years.. They didn't mention any cancer scare with this ! Of course I'm not anywhere close to knowing about yours .. But try and go to a dermatologist with your mother , then you will know for sure if they think it should be removed or why is shouldn't ..

You can't get it removed without one of your parent's okay, but when you go to the doctor, ask your doctor to explain to your mom or dad that you won't get cancer from the removal of a mole, but cancer can occur if you don't. You can look up about skin cancer on wikipedia. A doctor should look at it to tell you if it is cancerous. When the edges are fuzzy or start changing color or shape, it's perhaps cancerous. The point is that the mole is a nuisance, though. Ask her if cost is a factor. Tell her you could earn the money by doing chores. She will get the message that you really do want it off. If cost is not, ask her why she can't understand that you don't like having to suffer the embarrassment it causes. I have had moles removed and it doesn't take long for the whole area to look normal again. I've had unsightly acne and it made me feel inferior. I think a mole is less hurtful, but know it's always the inside of a person that makes you attractive. I lucked out and married a wonderful man who overlooked a whole lot of my flaws!!

Of course you feel uncomfortable about it and want it removed.
Try and explain to Mum the reasons why you wish to have it removed and just how it makes you feel.
Maybe say you wish to go and consult your family doctor about it, and ask Mum to go with you. He will put her mind at rest that its removal will certainly not cause cancer.
The reality being, a mole that is left can change and can sometimes turn into a form of skin cancer later in life.
Especially if you spend a lot of time in the sun.
Removal of a mole never causes cancer.
I am not sure why she feels so strongly about this,it could be fear, for you!
Some people can cope with things easier if they pretend they don't exist.
She may honestly think it can turn into cancer and is afraid to face the outcome of a dermatologists examination.
I know you 14yr old guys(and girls) are really good at not letting up until Mum or Dad is nearly insane from hearing about it Now is the time to put that art to a possitive use!
Nag and whinge till she gives in.
We usually do.Eventually.
If you have no success, talk to your school counsellor, about your Mum not wanting you to see about its removal.Ask can they help talk to her.
If you can't do that try a close family friend or relative.
If all fails then its only 24mths till you are 16 and go to a doctor by yourself.
I am in Australia but you may legally be able to go to a doctor alone where you live.
I know it is not good to go against your Mums wishes. But in this case it could make a lot of difference to you self confidence and ability to mature into a great young man.
I can totally understand how you feel and I'm proberly old enough to be your Grandma!
Good luck!

Make your mom take you to the doctor. My boyfriend had a mole on his leg that he did not get removed, and it became stage III melanoma, which is skin cancer. Even if it doesn't look bad, always let a doctor decide whether it is a mole that should be removed or not.

Skin-colored lesions are rarely cancerous and certainly there is no increased risk of cancer by removing a lesion. It's most likely a condition called "sebaceous hyperplasia" - a benign condition. Sometimes destructive therapies like liquid nitrogen are beneficial in shrinking them. Otherwise you could have what's called a shave biopsy, where the "bump" is sliced off along the skin surface.

a mole is a spot on the skin, usually brown, that was there at birth,so just consider it as being a beautiful birth mark. if the mole is not giving you any problems i wouldnt worry about it,and if it is take it to your doctor and they will remove it . it wont hurt i had it done several times. but i still have a mole in the corner of my nose and my grandmother have the same one.so maybe its genetic.

Um. I'm sorry it's in such an obnoxious place! But your mom is wrong, if you get it removed, you will NOT get cancer. Of course, if you simply tell your doctor at your next regular appointment that you think it's changing color or shape, there's about an 80% chance that they'll schedule you for a punch biopsy (effectively removing it) just to make sure that it's not skin cancer. That's kind of cheating. But it could work!

you can make an appointment with a doctor for something else, when there just mention it to the doctor many people have them removed each year. but as your mother is clearly worried about you having any unnecessary sugary you should maybe wait until your 18, then have it removed it is really probably not that bad.

no cancer wont form under a mole if you have it removed. my dad is a reconstructive surgeon and i just called him and asked him. he said cancerous moles are flat, usually odd shaped, and dark - if not black in color. you can safely have it removed without fear of cancer.

he did say that if changes shape or color at any time you should definitely have it looked at.
