I was trying to play a dvd on my PowerDVDXP when it suddenly says "insufficient decoders".

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this problem?

Thanks a lot.

The dvd could be encoded with Divx or one of the other many codec's (COdeDECoder).

Search google for "KLITE CODEC". Its a package that has the most commonly used codecs. After you install that it should be fine.

Also while you're on the site that displays the KLITE codec, theres two OPTIONAL things you can grab while you're there (not needed, just optional). Look for Real Alternative and Quicktime Alternative. If you install those products, then anytime you visit a site that has a streaming movie that requires a Real Media Player or a Quicktime Media Player, then it will play them through your regular Windows Media Player. That will prevent you of having to install Real Player and Quicktime on your computer. You can have the Windows Media player play practically all movie types.

Also, when you install any of the above mentioned packages, it might have a checkbox to also install Windows Media player classic 6.4. Dont waste your time, uncheck that box. It won't conflict with your regular media player, but they are more suseptible to exploits.

Sound like you need a dvd player software. Did you get one when you got the unit?
