As a school bus driver, I would not drop off a child that young without seeing a parent/sitter at the door to let them in. I would complain to the transportation director and the superintendent. Our school isn't supposed to even allow the child to take the bus home unless a parent as given the go ahead on a day when it is cancelled early. They need policy on this and if you complain and make an issue the will make policy on this type of situation.

Given that "nothing happened," I don't know if you can sue. But you certainly should raise a stink about this with the school and the bus company. They absolutely shouldn't lavea 5 year old unattended at a bus stop, without a parent's knowledge/permission.

Sue - no.
Find a new school if you can.
If not ... complain to the administration. If that doesn't get satisfaction go to the board. If that doesn't work run for the board and fire all their sorry excuses.
Sue and all you are is a Greedy "rhymes with witch or fatherless child." They lose sight of your genuine concern/outrage and get all defensive.
Get involved and make the system change. Lawsuits are the cowards way out.

I am a school bus driver and we do not drop off kindergartners unless there is a parent or an adult to pick them up (or if their door is locked, etc.) We are supposed to take them back to the school and then the parent is contacted. You should call the school board and make a big deal out of it. It will be taken care of (and then if they don't make an attempt to do something contact an attorney.. but don't jump the gun right away).

It was wrong that somebody allowed this to happen but I don't see that you or your child were harmed in any fashion and so I do not believe you have a case. You do have a concern though so file a formal complaint with the school board. Depending on the school districts policies someone should be reprimanded if not fired.

Instead of immediately suing, call the school to find out what happened and why. It sounds like a bad situation, but find out the facts before jumping to sue.

I would definitely call the school and complain. Thats awful that they done that to that poor little boy. I would be furious. I dont know if you can sue over it, but I would definitely call and ask why they didnt call a family member to let them know that school was cancelled early. Good Luck!

yeah, that is unacceptable.. there was no way of knowing anyone would be home.. to just drop off a 5 year old like that is very irresponsible.. I wouldn't sue, but I'd definitely call and complain..
