I am a hispanic girl, and my fiance is half white-half hispanic. More than half of his family doesn't speak a word of spanish, while more than half of my family doesn't speak a word of English! We decided that our wedding ceremony should be bilingual. I am of Mexican heritage and there are many rituals that we practice in our Catholic wedding celebrations aside from those of a regular catholic wedding. In addition, some reading will be in English, while others will be in Spanish. In order to make things less confusing for our guests and relatives, we want to include both english and spanish translations of all readings and rituals in our wedding programs. We are debating over whether we should have two separate programs, one in English and one in Spanish, or whether we should have one bilingual program, or whether we should bother to include the readings and explanations of the rituals at all. I am a graphic designer so this comes from a design standpoint.

You can do it 2 ways.

1. Do 2 separate programs, one in English and the other in Spanish, have the design exactly the same of course just the language changed in it.

2. You could put the English side on one half and Spanish on the other side, if it is too large and needs a full page (both sides) put in a divider into the program so it would be you open it up as if it were a card, you look at the program and you see the English let's say in the front and it covers both sides, but flip the page like a book and it will show the Spanish side.

Just get a designer who knows what he/she is doing and they will be able to design a beautiful one for you easily with what you need. Either way would be fine, I would suggest just doing the bilingual design as it would be more cost effective instead of doing it with both as printing wedding programs can be pricey.

I think it would be cute to print them on cream / silver / eggshell cardstock but format them so they would be "long and skinny" - probably 11" tall and maybe 4" wide. It's unique and you can get two per page. Choose a scroll font that is pretty but not so ornate that you can't read it. A simple graphic in the top corner is all you need or if you have someone crafty around and some time, put a ribbon on the top. I would include the timeline for: cocktail hour dinner any special dances speeches bouquet / garter stuff cake cutting "last dance" Specific times aren't necessary and I don't know of a single wedding reception that was ever on schedule. This will just give guests an idea what will happen when. Just make sure your caterer, emcee and DJ have the same schedule!

I wouldn't do 2 separate programs, that is going to be confusing trying to get ushers to remember who gets what language of program. DEFINITELY have the programs be bi-lingual. As far as the rest, have what you want, if you feel that there are going to be too many readings and rituals that will be confusing to your guests, then explanations will definitely be appreciated. You can also explain certain key points during the ceremony--just have the priest handle the explanations. I've been to several Catholic weddings (with mass) and am not Catholic, and many times the priest would explain the purpose of communion, or whatever. I would just caution you on letting the program get too long though. Keep it to a single page, printed front and back--if you have to--try to keep it printed just on the front though. Hope this helps you out some! Try not to stress over stuff like this though, you'll drive yourself (and family) batty long before the wedding! Good luck and keep smiling!

You can cut down your printing costs by doing a two sided program with English and Spanish. The guests will appreciate your thoughtfulness.

I would have one bilingual program. It will make things FAR easier on your ushers.

The best way to handle this would be to get them done at Kinkos (or whatever is in your area) on larger than average paper. Print one half of the paper in English, and then print the exact same thing, in the exact same format, on the other--except in Spanish. (Kind of like a mirror image.)

why not make fan programs. Print the program on fans that way if your guest gets hot they can fan with the program.
