Like if you wanted to ship an extra piece of luggage?
I am taking the train and they will only allow 2 pieces of luggage at 50lbs max. I'm going away for 8 weeks and I might need another suitcase.

I have shipped boxes across the country through Amtrak. The last time it was 150 pounds of books in boxes, and it cost about $110. Each box had to be less than 50 pounds.

You might want to go in a day early to find out. There is a separate window at the station where you take care of shipping freight.

You might really want to make sure that you can take more that 2 suitcases on the train that you are traveling on. I was told that I could pay the extra fee and take more, and when I got to the train station I couldn't. I guess some of their trains have underneath storage, and some don't (you want there you be the extra storage if you want to take more). Just do your research, you don't want to be like me sitting in the train station re-packing my bags. Good luck!!

heres a suggestion, why not send it via Fedex instead of Amtrak
you could send either to your hotel or to nearest Fedex staff location or Fedex Kinkos that accepts Hold at Location packages.. nearest your destination..
cost will mostly likely be cheaper then amtrak..
