I am considering moving to one of the two cities to live. I do not have any kids, but I do have a large dog to consider. So any information about rentals, things to do, resturants, neighborhoods or anything at all would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone has any opinions about near by cities or towns that are also nice I am open to suggestions. I will be working in Brentwood so I would like to keep my travel time under 30 minutes.

I think both towns themselves are similar, so the major difference is that
Laurel is closer to Baltimore
Bowis is closer to Annapolis
Both are equidistant from Washington.
I would pick Bowie because Baltimore is such a large town that you are GOING to take some extra time to get in and out, so the extra drive from Bowie won't make that much difference. But if you want to bop into Annapolis for dinner, it's easy from Bowie, considerably longer from Laurel. Does that make sense?

Laurel would be the best place to live in terms of commute and accessibility to restaurants and retail. Laurel spans through 3 counties. Prince George's, Anne Arundel, and Howard. I live in a community called Russett located in the Anne Arundel side of Laurel. There is a shopping center accross 198 and BW parkway is less than 5 mins from the entrance of the community. If you want more shopping, Columbia is a 15 minutea drive to a mall 2 movie theatres and more restaurants. Also it is in the middle of both Baltimore and DC. Another caveat is income tax in Laurel (Anne Arundel county side) is considerably less than Laurel or Bowie Prince George's county side.

Both cities have their good sections and their bad ones. Prince George's county is trying really hard to turn around the stereotypes of a county close to a major city like Washington DC.
Bowie and Laurel are pretty comporable.

Living In Bowie Md

Laurel for sure.
Bowie has a terrible crime rate. In a gated community that I was looking for an apartment in a while back, some residents told me while I was looking that there have been tons of cars broken into....

Don't get me wrong, they both have their bad areas, but Laurel has few.

Well I live in Bowie and I LOVE it, but if you are going to be working in Brentwood have you considered living in Greenbelt?
