If you feel the prices are that inflated, then is the work that good? If something is what you want (good work) then the price shouldn't seem inflated and the tip is how you show your grattitude. After all your stylist must pay for the chair in rent or overhead, with sometimes little of the actual cost going in their pocket. If you don't feel that their work is worth the price and a tip, I would go elsewhere.

Some people answer these questions, like if you don't tip, she will (the hairdresser) will ruin your hair on purpose. Go get a life, is all I will say to these people. I've been seeing my hairdresser now for about a year, she's great, she also know's that I can't afford much, so after getting my hair done I tip her between £3-£6 and she seems happy for this AND she always does a brilliant job on my hair!
We can't all afford to leave more than 20% you know....

You don't have to tip. Every 2 weeks, I'd have been grateful to have a client that faithful. But if you want to do it for your hairdresser, once a month is plenty often to cut or color. I would assume you are going to get styled. Styling is expensive because it takes just about as long to get you finished. You might actually have a chat and see if there is any consideration she would give you seeing that you are such a frequent visitor. It may be out of her hands and up to management.
If you really want to go every 2 weeks, maybe you could alternate with a lower-priced stylist. In any place I ever worked, the client's needs came before personalities.

If your hairdresser doesn't own her own shop, she's not dictating the charges and she's not getting all the money you pay her. In fact, she's working for a wage. Tipping her isn't a necessity but it's the custom in that situation and she's probably relying in part on her tips to make up for low wages. If she owns her shop, she's getting every penny of your fee - minus, of course, the cost of the rent, electricity, shampoo, conditioner, upkeep of her equipment, license, water and possibly other stylist's wages. You never have to tip, but if you want to continue having a good cut, you really should.

I would ask, point blank, why she's doing that. And yes, don't go so often, if anything, you should be getting a break in price because you show up so often there. Remember a tip is something you give for good service, not because you have to.

if she owns the salon its fine that you dont tip her..but if she just works there you should always tip especially if you like how she does your hair..you dont have to over do a tip either... $5 is always a safe way to go

Do you feel it is necessary to get your hair done that often? If you do, I wouldn't tip. It's not wrong, it's just the way to save money. If you don't feel it's necessary then you can tip because she is good, and just don't go as often.

It is wrong for you to keep going with the attitude that you are paying her too much in the first place. You may be taking up an appointment slot for someone who would tip. I am surprised she hasn't asked you if you are unhappy with her work.

Yes, Tipping is a big part of their salary so it is unfair to not tip her especially if you like her. If you cannot afford the salon's prices then maybe you should switch salons.

Let's look at it this way... she does your hair and does a great job. If she didn't do a good job, then hell yeah, don't tip her. But since you are her regular, tip her because, she does have control over how good your hair looks.
