I just want to know people's opinions. When choosing a life partner should one, or should one not, consider the views of their parents/siblings/close family and friends? I know it is best to follow your heart and do what feels right...But can you really chose a life partner knowing that all of your family and friends detest him/her? How much should their advice matter? Who here listens to the advice that your loved ones give to you? After all they only want the best for you, right? Or is it crucial for people to make decisions like that on their own? It just seems that people outside of the relationship can see things that the person who is in love might be blind to see initially....

Sometimes people don't realize that they are unhappy but the ones close to you can detect that right away...does it sound that crazy?

complicated question. You said that your family and Friends want what is best for you, which I believe, Consider that "LOVE IS BLIND" and you just MIGHT be making the blunder of your life. Your kinfolk are trying to protect you from that. On the other hand, if your relationship is strong enough that you can defy your family and possibly live without hearing from them for years, they will eventually recognize that they were the ones who blundered and will start to accept your husband as part of the family. it is valuable to consider the imput of your family, but you have the final say. ANY opposition could be met with "Mom, Dad, you have brought me up to the best of your ability, you have tough me very well the difference between right and wrong. With all that considered, I'm asking you to trust that I am using my best judgement in this case.
Hope it works for you!

I think the opinions of family and friends are important. Although consider this, If you love someone and everyone knows that, why would they detest the person so much? Shouldn't they be happy if you've found someone you love.

My relationship with my family and my relationship with my man stays separate from each other. I love my man but my family doesn't like him out of jealousy. They think I should jump when they say jump and when I am with my man i don't so they don't like him. They never have anything nice to say about him. I really don't talk to them that often because I get sick of having to pick sides.

I think it is important as they seem to know more than we do and you should think about it and really study why they feel this way and then after that go with your heart,
