It is supposedly harmless for birds to sit on high voltage overhead cables as there is no path to earth. I want to know why they stay well clear of them. However they do like to sit on the top earth cable.

have you ever stood under a high voltage transmission line?
you can feel and hear the buzz that they produce. if i were a bird,
i wouldn't want to be on such a line that produced that much
noise as well as the heat that is generated from it.

Some overhead cables are not insulated. They give off a slite shock as you get close to them.

However there are many that are and birds do sit on them....by the hundreds at least here in South western Pennsylvania they do.

In order to recieve a shock you have to be grounded and seeing as how birds aren't touching anything they arent shocked. Now if the were to somehow touch two wires at once....ZAP!!

it truly is person-friendly. 0.33 selection. No p.d. between legs. shall we clarify this. Even line adult adult males artwork on stay wires without something happening to them at low voltages too the order of say 250 V. because the flux produced doesnot carry their fingers intoo any magnetic field nor does it damage. yet enable him contact 2 diverse strains or get earthed he ought to die on the spot because the circuit/skill flows proper via him. subsequently the birds sitting on similar line on a dry day, not something ought to ensue, yet enable it rain and their feather contact 2 diverse strains even they could die. on your archives, no poultry perches on HT strains of 11 kV and above because the flux produced is to the kind of quantity that skill is forced via a body killing it.

Some cables still give off a shock so maybe they don't want to die.

Couldn't day for sure. I know that our rabbit ignores unplugged cords whereas she can't help but take bites out of any cords that are plugged in and within her grasp.
