Or perhaps you feel another life form as algae, bacteria, etc. would fill the void left by humans. What would evolve to fill the voided niche? Wolves, coyotes, wild dogs, rats and ants might all have a chance.

Thanks for the point about dominance. Perhaps there is a better word. Humans have the ability to affect the course of the planet in that we alter the environment. The world of other species changes to accommodate us. Another example of this is elephants who trample and change the flora or algae that bloom and die making dead zones around them. At present, at least from my limited human perspective, humans appear to be having the most effect on the earth and other species. So what other species might replace us in this role?

I suppose apes would be the logical choice for dominating the niche we once occupied, because from an intellectual and physical stand point they share many of the superlative traits that gave us our competitive edge over other species.

My mom is my closest relative. to locate a undemanding ancestor between me and a bonobo you would ought to bypass back over a million years. that is in trouble-free words 'close' in a geological sense.

And, we agree that cockroaches and alligators/crocodiles would prosper as they are 2 of the longest living life forms!

but I do think certain bacterias would also survive.
