Well, in the first place you should send that question to the Records Guiness. I never, ever thought that somebody could ask such a question.
Have you ever asked why the sun shines ?
OK, I will assume that this is a serious question, and I shall try to answer.
1 - It is useful if you travel to another country
2 - It is useful to read books, magazines, etc, in another language
3 - It is useful if you need to speak with somebody who speaks a different language.
4 - It makes you a cultured person.
5 - It looks good in your resumé.
6 - It is a valuable point to ask for a better pay.
7 - With the globalization, nowadays is becoming necessary because you must deal with people from different countries. The old idea that english was more than enough and if somebody wants to talk with me, THEY MUST LEARN ENGLISH, is just getting obsolete.
People from other countries show more interest if you speak their language instead of YOU waiting for THEM to speak english

Well as a French learning English allowed me first to get good grade at school, then watch movies, read news on Internet, help me when travelling?

Learning a another language can be usefull if you have to work overseas. Today it is a real asset to speak other languages. It proves you are quite open to the world.

When you learn you can discover another culture, how people think, travel. And sometimes it is compulsary. I live in China and without Mandarin I would be lost because Chinese people in the street don't speak English.

Today I also learn Japanese by watching anime and it is very interesting. And because I can understand French / English / Mandarin and Japanese I can answer lot's of question of the language forum (^_^)

First it will help you understand the English better, word origin, derivatives, etc. Second it could help you communicate with people of that language. The world is so small it is not uncommon to hear many different languages. If you ever went to the country of the language, you could order food from a menu and not be afraid of what you are getting. Pick your second language carefully

Learning a second language helps give a better understanding of your first language. You can also communicate with people from other cultures in their native tongue, or visit another country and be able to communicate with the people their, not just the one's that speak English.
I think it would be pretty cool to speak a second language. It's unfortunate I took Latin in highschool...what a waste!

Learning another language is never a waste. Even if you never use it with native speakers, you stretched your mind while learning it. Learning a new language, especially one that is very different from your native language, helps you to learn to think in new ways. I've heard that in the U.S. education system a century ago, it was common for students to learn Latin for exactly this reason.
