I'm watching the New England/San Diego game and my mom wants one team and I want the other. Everytime her team(San Diego) did something good, she want a high five....all cocky like. But when i went to do it to her, when New England did something good, she was like 'thats enough, you were the one to start it, i only did it once". Which is a lie, she started it, and did it multiple times.

Why do people do this? Now she made me feel like crap.

*she's not a san diego fan, she just doesn't like new england and likes to see someone new to get to the superbowl...even though the winner doesn't go to the superbow..yet*

I think a lot of people are like this without realizing it. It also seems that people who are like this never seem to realize that what they are like---even when it is pointed out to them. I know, because I have on occasion pointed this trait out in people when I just didn't want to put up with their hypocritical antics anymore. They didn't see what I was talking about.

First off, don't say your mom "lied"; this is more of a fib. ;) Your mom is your best friend for life.

2nd, people who dish it out generally can't handle the competition. I have a catty co-worker who gets all weepy when someone throws it back at her. She's been spoiled since birth to think that whatever she says is okay and that everyone else is wrong.

If you can't take it, don't start it.

Don't worry about it. It's just a football game. I'm sorry your mom is so tied up in how the team does.

Sometimes parents think they're the exception to the rule in things like that.

Give her a break....she's the Mom....let her get away with it.

In this case you're being the adult.

Tell her to grow up. Isn't she the mother? I would have a civil conversation with her, and explain your feelings about this. Don't let it build up. get it out in the open. tell her how you feel.
