Silly blue blood etiquette fashion thing....white was traditionally only worn during the warm weather months, especially summer.
This old rule died out in the early sixties. Whites in varying shades are worn for all seasons, and look great any time. Enjoy!

I agree with Sway_26. White is considered a spring/summer color by most fashion standards. Labor Day is a guideline most fashion houses use to target thier fall lines, which introduce more traditionally darker shades as compared to light and pastels which are associated with spring/summer wear. I however think white is universal all year round, and it looks great in winter also!

It's some old Southern tradition. I guess it probably stems from the fact that white is typically a color worn in warm weather. And when the weather starts to get cool, people switch to darker colors that absorb more heat.

Those rules would probably be more meaningful back in the days when air conditioning wasn't yet an invention, and heating wasn't as good.

I dont know, but isnt everyday technically "after" labor day, even the day "before" labor day is "after" labro day, so when does it switch from "after" to "before" when you can start wearing white again. Also i dont give a crap, I think white is an awesome winter color.

not sure, I don't wear white till after labor day. Snow is white, so it matches.

It was started to distinguish the working class from the people of privilege.

Most of those rules are passe now.

Because some long dead fashion designer made that rule 100 years ago!

It's a rule of fashion meant to distinguish those who are paying attention from those who are not.
