In can burst within 24 hours. Faster if you put heat on it, longer if you put ice on it.
Lie on your back, pull your right leg up, then straighten in quickly. If you get a tremendous pain from that, get to the hospital emergency ASAP.
I had mine start up an noon one day, and went to the hospital at 8 am in the following morning. They got it out at 10am and it was ready to burst despite my using ice on it the evening before.
Contrary to what others here say, you don't die even from a burst appendix, but it does for a long and painful recovery.

You probably have gas. Most health insurance plans and clinics offer a nurse line where you can call in and see what they think. They will tell you if you should go in or not. Call your doctor. They have an answering service and someone will call you back.
The main symptom of appendicitis is abdominal pain. The pain is at first diffuse and poorly localized, that is, not confined to one spot. (Poorly localized pain is typical whenever a problem is confined to the small intestine or colon, including the appendix.) The pain is so difficult to pinpoint that when asked to point to the area of the pain, most people indicate the location of the pain with a circular motion of their hand around the central part of their abdomen. A second, common, early symptom of appendicitis is loss of appetite which may progress to nausea and even vomiting. Nausea and vomiting also may occur later due to intestinal obstruction.
As appendiceal inflammation increases, it extends through the appendix to its outer covering and then to the lining of the abdomen, a thin membrane called the peritoneum. Once the peritoneum becomes inflamed, the pain changes and then can be localized clearly to one small area. Generally, this area is between the front of the right hip bone and the belly button. The exact point is named after Dr. Charles McBurney--McBurney's point. If the appendix ruptures and infection spreads throughout the abdomen, the pain becomes diffuse again as the entire lining of the abdomen becomes inflamed.

LISTEN! It does not matter if the pain is on your right side or not at this point. A lot of appendicitis starts out that way (stomach/intestinal cramping, etc.) and then eventually becomes localized in the lower right side later. Your question is my answer. If you think you may have appendicitis then go to the ER now. Better to find out sooner then after a rupture. A simple exam, blood test and abdominal films will help rule out any potential emergency. You didn't mention any other symptoms such as fever, distention, reflux, bowel problems, re-bound tenderness(hurting worse right after you mash on the sore area and release it) or nausea/vomiting. If you have any of these other symptoms then i would defiantly go to the ER. Good luck !

If your pain is really severe or you think it is your appendix you need to go asap. If your appendix ruptures you will really have problems. Don't make it worse for yourself. Do you have any of the other symptoms, fever or vomiting? I had those symptoms, so I waited and went to the emergency room thinking it way my appendix, but it turned out to be a kidney stone. I would have much preferred it be my appendix. Anyway go to the doctor, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Make the appointment your self, then tell mom which you have one. you could stroll with appendisitis while that's nonetheless early. in case you wait until that's intense, you would be able to desire to bypass septic rather speedy (that's existence threatening). merely bypass and notice your known well being care provider and he will do the frenzy on your abdomen element. If it gets plenty worse, and you're rather stressful, call an ambulance, no remember what your mom says. A temperature with section discomfort isn't sturdy. And the "flu" may be a symptom of apendisitis.

If you seriuosly think its your appendix you should go in ASAP and get it checked out. At least by your regular doctor...he/she would confirm that diagnosis and then send you to the hospital if necessary. its not good to wait out this type off pain because theres no telling when your appendix will burst and after that there's nothing anyone can do for you and you will die.

If it is your appendix you shouldn't wait. If it bursts it will be the worst pain you've ever felt and you become toxic very quickly with little time to get help before you die.
