How can I understand it?

Hi everybody I'm sorry to ask the same question but I need to get as many ideas as possible, I am completely lost!!!
So... with a friend of mine,something beautiful and sweet often happens when we are together. Before anything happened, we used to see each other very often, now he seems to keep his distances but when we meet, it happens again... It's not really something sexual, it's someting deeper in our behaviour and looks towards each other. I asked him his opinion about it, telling also that I felt very sensitive with him. He said he likes to be with me in this way but that it was better to stop it because he didn't want to mess it up .. But when we meet again, even if we are with other people, he's always looking at me...when I notice it he looks down, then he watches me again...How can I uderstand it if he doesn't want me?? (I just add that he's very shy, keeps everything for himself, but very sensitive! Could this play a part in his reaction towards me?)

Lookslike that he like youbut he doesnt know what he wants...either go 1 more step further or just stop it & continue be friends.
If you like him so much..why dont you ask him again what he wants? Its not nice to be put in limbo. Just ask him again..and tell him that you can even gv him time to think.
REspect whatever decision that he make
