Sorry I can't help and you probably will not be able to find one for free.

You are probably not going to find a Cairn Terrier or any pure bred dog for free. You may be able to find a mixed breed. I have a Cairn Terrier who's father was registered, but her mother was half poodle. (Talk about an oops) She's not registered, but she was free. She looks just like a pure Cairn, unless you get into specific measurements, and has the same temperament...she just came without papers.

Cairn's are great dogs....very loving and very protective. VERY high energy...you're puppy will need lots of exercise! Check local shelters and rescues. Good luck!

Nope I'm not sure where you can get one in Indiana. Check the newspaper adds for dogs. I got mine from a breeder in NY. He's a great dog and I hope when you do find just the right Cairn, you'll have a great life together.

Call the shelters and ask for the number for the ' Cairn Terrier ' and/or 'Terrier' rescue society. Also, ask the shelters if they have any Cairn Terriers at the moment.

Cairns are great little dogs and full of energy, but I doubt you will find one for free. We got ours while we lived in Scotland from a championship breeder. They had this one puppy left and he was so tiny and sweet, and we found out from his pedigree that he was rather inbred, but still a great dog. We paid about $160 for him, but that was 25 years ago, so they probably cost more now. You may have some luck with local dog pounds or humane societies to get one for free or nearly free. Our dog, Badger, lived 15 years and gave us a lot of joy.

Oh Cairn Terriers are THE best breed of small dog! At least that is my 'expert' opinion. ~big smile~
You picked a fine breed to go with
The are loving and brave and exceptionally smart!
I used to tell people that I gave birth to a litter. They just had different dads. I was refferring to my 7 yr. old daughter and my furry kid Mac. hahaha
We paid $390. for my furry boy in a pet store..and that was 20-25 yrs. ago.
But, I gotta tell ya, he was worth every penny.
He lived to be 14 and he did have some doggy-alzhiemers near the end..but he was truly awesome!
I still have a poster size picture of him in my living room...('cause he was so handsome)~wink, wink~
Good luck to you in finding your new best friend and relative!
You picked a wonderfull kind of dog!!

There are somewhere around 30,000 Cairns registered yearly from coast to coast.
They are NOT free!!! They START around $900!
If you can't afford to BUY a dog,you can't afford to KEEP ONE!

GROW up,get a JOB & SAVE$$$!
