They seem so small. I'm wondering if they are prone to being sick.

Teacups are dogs who have been bred smaller then their breed standard allows. They are very prone to health issues..heart, kidney, liver as well as structural deformities, They also often have serious immune system disorders.

***Catieann..."teacups" are NOT exceptionally well bred..they are inferiorly bred. They are bred by irresponsible breeders..they aren't even a "type" they are only a scam set up by irresponsible people. They are subject to very serious health issues and usually don't live long lives or healthy lives*****

They don't. There is no such thing as a teacup dog.

Extremely small dogs generally do not live very long (less than 12 years) due to the fact that breeders to runt to runt breedings to make them smaller, which sacrifices health in the process.

There is no such thing as a teacup chihuahua, yorkie, etc. They are usually runts and are usually sickly. They can get low blood sugar(hypoglycemia), they can have liver problems or heart problems that are undetected at first. Beware any breeder that says they sell "teacups", which usually carries a larger price tag. You may be buying heartache.

Teacup chihuahuas are bred particularly small, usually through inbreeding. Teacup chihuahuas are not runts but actually genetically coded as smaller individuals. Teacups are not runts and as such are generally not subject to typical runt health problems. They are however MORE susceptible to the usual health problems experienced by Chihuahuas.

many do live very close to a normal Chihuahua lifespan, due to exceptionally good breeding, however, before you purchase a tiny Chihuahua, please, please, please research the breed extensively. Tiny dogs usually require a much greater amount of care and attention, and are not suitable for every home. This information can be referenced from any breeding related or Chihuahua related book at your local library.

I don't see why people are saying there is no such thing.. there is! They are not a breed but they are a type of dog they are NOT RUNTS! Ive DONT MY RESEARCH PRETTY THOROUGHLY THANKS!
