I want to get a tattoo, although I probably won't for a few years (underage). But I was wondering what kind of design I should get. And where I should put it. I had 2 sisters that both have tattoos in between their shoulder blades. And I was thinking to get mine there too, but I'm not sure. I'm also thinking about getting a tree of life. See, I'm into natural stuff, like the tree of life, the OM sign, stuff like that. I want something that is deep and spiritual, that means something, not just some butterfly. Help?

This is such a huge decision because it will be with you forever. It is better to not choose one based on a poll or what you think is cool at the time, but something that has real significance to you personally.

There are many different tattoo design websites you can look up on the Internet. First browse around and see what strikes your fancy. You are going to live with this design for the rest of your life and it should be something you won't mind having on your body 10 years from now. I have seen all sorts of both beautifully done tattoos as well as some home jobs that are just the ugliest stuff you ever saw. They also use good long lasting inks now that don't fade. I have even seen glow in the dark ink that is awesome. Be careful when you have it done that the place is clean and reputable, you don't need to get some infection or disease. Ask to look at the portfolios of the tattoo artists work and maybe even ask someone whose tattoo you like where they got theirs. Also take care and follow the aftercare instructions to keep from getting an infection.

I think you should get a design that comes natural to you. you have a few years to find a tattoo that you love, look for one, go on-line, read books that have spiritual meaning behind them and see if there are any symbols that you really connect with. A tatt. is going to be with you forever so make sure it comes from within, because of art that is on your skin should represent your individuality, find one for yourself, be original don't let someone tell you what kind of tattoo to get, you should come up with a design on your known, it will make that much special and that much more spiritual, and meaningful so you actually love your tattoo. But once you have a design, for smaller designs your back, ankle, arm, hip, bellybutton all work fine. bigger designs go with the back, or the arm, there are also places you could place it in spots that are private but for a tattoo like this it should be open and shown to the world.

Do something with meaning, get a vision, I have no "tats", want one a big baby though, plus I am older and I think God has made our skin a creative canvas but its differant for us individually some people choose to some dont, it's all about you, stay away from all this chinese crap, my friend was told her symbolism meant one thing and when a real asian person saw they explained it meant another these are permanent so think hard, write down some ideas, do you like hearts, and what do you think of when you think of a heart, purity, sadness, broken, whole, any creative tattoo artist can envision what you tell them and see the work first, like you know they usually take pictures of what they have done for other people, a clean place, clean sterile needles and by the way take a pain reliever, it helps,

PS NO TRAMP STAMPS IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR BACK UNLESS YOU WANT TO WORK IN A STRIP CLUB, do something classy, not trashy

Firstly, let me say Im NOT anti-tattoo. Ive spent years on and off researching ways to get rid of the two I have; in that time Ive read THOUSANDS of discussions, stories of the regrets people feel about their tats, not just those that made rash decisions, but even those that thought long and hard about the design, the artist and the consequences.
I thought my designs were meaningful, deep, important to me too. Think about a favourite poster, design, artwork of yours, something you think is amazing. Now think of having that same image hanging on your bedroom wall everyday, year after year, forever. I know you're only young, but very few people have the same artwork, hanging on the same wall, of every flat or house they will ever live in. Try it...see how long it takes you to get sick of it. Find some flash, enlarge it, hang it on your bedroom wall until you're legal to get a tat (2 or 3 years??) and see if you still love it as much as you do now. In that time you might have found
dozens of designs that blow your mind, are more amazing than the last one. Get my point???
Get creative...display your personality on your clothes, your books, your hair your walls....COVER your bedroom walls and ceiling in flash and see if sometimes you need a change?
Find a tree of life design, create one yourself, then put it on your wall. There are only 2 things in life set in concrete: concrete....and tattoos!!!!

I have a tattoo in my lower back it is lady bug and it is lovely, the thing is choose a part of your body you can cover since one day you will be a professional and you won't be respected if you have visible tattoos and on the other hand choose a part of your body that doesn't change too much with the time so you tattoo doesn't change they way it looks!

Whatever you get put a lot of thought into it make sure that it's something that you can live with for the rest of your life, and as long as it's something that will still be as meaningful to you in the distant future. i like the Tree of life maybe with your parents, grandparents, and siblings Initials that would be cool don't put boyfriends or spouses even if you think it's forever it's not a good idea because boyfriends and spouses may come and go but family is forever

You might want to think about something that's truly meaningful to you. I didn't know exacty what I wanted until I had my daughter and I was 28...Getting mine in 2 weeks. Doing something that is meaningful to you means that you will love the tattoo and more likely will not regret it later...because you're getting something that has meaning to you rather than a design that is "cool" at this time in your life.

It's good to go with something that reflects your personality. Keep in mind that this is something that you will live with for the rest of your life! That's what you should base the design on...something that is timeless...something that will grow old with you. Personally, I have a celestial moon on my left ankle and sun on the right ankle; I have been called a "walking ouija board" for many years, now I look like one! hehe! This is something I can live with forever...my moon and sun reflect who I am, and that makes the tattoos work.

its hard to say, youl have to live with your tatt for the rest of your life, I guess you would have to get a tattoo that would represent your devotion to christianity love for you grandma and your field of study. You could get like a tattoo of a open book, with a cross on it, maybe a flower on a corner to represent your grandma, I got a sugar skull you can put almost any king of representation on that.
