distemper/parvo vacciantions start at 8-9 weeks of age...the second is given at 12-14 weeks of age and the third and final is given at 16 -18 weeks. There should be NO more then 3 in the series and they should be no closer then 4 weeks apart.
The vaccine should also only contain distemper/parvo/canine hepatitis nothing else.

Vaccinations should NEVER be given under 7 weeks of age..8-9 is a lot better and recommended.Younger then this and it can interefer with natural immunity and create vaccination issues in the future including serious reactions and immune problems.

I also recommend that your friend not self vacciante her puppy. Vaccines bought from non licensed vets are NOT guaranteed by the drug companies. There is no way of knowing if they have been properly handled or stored or if they are expired. Also someone not familiar with mixing and correctly giving the vaccine can create problems. If the puppy has a bad reaction to the vaccine you are out of luck and could possibly lose the puppy. Also it is very important that the puppy be 100% healthy before it is vaccianted. This is another reason why a vet needs to do the vacciantion. Puppies should get exams every 4-5 weeks for the first 6 months of life. They can develope problems very quickly and the owners aren't always aware until the puppy is quite ill.

For more info on proper vaccination protocol check out the AAHA site or Dr.Jean Dodds site. You can also read an excellant vaccination article in the November 2006 Whole Dog Journal.

Usually a puppy gets a series of vaccines every 14-21 days starting at 6-8 weeks old and going until 16-20 weeks old. If the pet is older than 16 weeks, a series of 2 vaccines 14-21 days apart is all that is needed to provide protection.
Vaccines are usually very safe, but I always recommend a vet examine the pet because if the puppy has any underlying medical issue, the vaccine can be dangerous, or ineffective. There is also the risk of a vaccine reaction which can happen with any vaccine, so the pet should be closely monitored for the first 12 hrs after any vaccine is given if able.

RE: Does a parvo shot remedy parvo or avert parvo? I were given a sparkling puppy about 3 months in the past and that i took him to the vet back for a examine up those days. The vet reported hes tremendous and each thing, then went ahead and gave him a parvo shot. He doesn't have parvo, yet i grow to be curious does the parvo shot remedy parvo or avert him from ever getting parvo?

Usually the parvo shot is part of a "combo vaccine", like a DHLPP. Vets vary slightly on when they provide the shots to the dogs, but at our shelter we give puppies shots at 6 weeks, 8 weeks, and 12 weeks. Adult dogs get a shot once a year.

Owners CAN give these shots to their dogs themselves, but be careful. If the dog is allergic to the shot, it can go into Anaphylactic shock within a matter of seconds. To be safe, ask your vet to give you an "eppi" shot for the dog in the proper dosage, to keep on hand, and give it to the dog immediately if it show signs of shock.

vaccinate every 3 to 4 weeks from 6 to 8 weeks of age up until 14-16 weeks of age. However it is always best to be vaccinated at a vet. Would she know how to treat a vaccine reaction if one to occur?

Depends on the breed some need shots closer together like 14 days between vaccinations usually larger muscular breeds.
