If you have not told him you love him then he is fishing for you to tell him so that he feels comftorble, he may not be sure if you feel the same way and this gives him a security blanket of sorts.
If you love him and have not told him then you should do so and see what happen's.

if you have told him "i love you" and that is his responce, then he cares but he is not sure if he wants to give his love totaly unto you. or he might not believe you when you say it to him, I do not know enough about your relationship to say for sure.
It seem's to me if you are to have a relationship with this person then you should just politely ask him how he feels, comunication on your part is the best way for you to succeed in love, if you are affraid to comunicate then you will have problems in the future. Open comunications with him tell him your feelings, be his friend even if you do not love him and just want to be friends, just be honest with him and show concern for him.
there is also the posibility that he just want's to have sex with you and does not love you, many men say that when they do not want to commit their true feelings in the relationship and saying "love you" gets you to spread your legs for him. If this is the case you should not be friends with him, but like I said, I do not know enough about your relationship to give you a definate answer, only you know what is in your heart, if you want to know what is in his heart you have to talk to him, a lot. but be carefull.

i think those are 2 completely different sentences. it's much easier to say Love you, cause you can say that to your friends and doesn't necessarily imply deep feelings. and both of you may be too young and too early in the relationship to be ready or even mean to say I love you
I would spare the embarassment and don't mention it at all

Sounds to me like he is trying to play it safe. If he signs it "luv ya" you will think he only likes you as a friend and if he writes "I love you" he is leaving himself open to a bruised ego if you don't like him as much as he likes you. He is leaving you wondering and hoping that if you like him as much you may say it first. If you were to say to him "that is a little too much" he could say back, "what do you mean? I only meant it like 'luv you'" You see. People are very strange;)

even if "i love you" takes a little bit more time than saying love you. it can be a difference.. try this and be the first one to say I love you when u logg off ans watch his reaction the next time
