The best place is to start local at your high school guidance office. They have a list of local scholarships for its current high school students to apply for consideration. I suggest this place first because the competition is limited to your high school. However, I will list other free sources to locate scholarships.

First, keep your grades up and study for the SAT. If your grades are high enough, you can qualify for a merrit scholarship from an individual college.

Second, the public library has a book listing scholarships with some of them not even listed on the web.

Finally, the other suggestion is join several free membership scholarship search websites. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on information entered into a form on the website.

Good luck!

There are a few essays, plus the Discover Card scholarship. Your local Soroptimists might also be offering the Violet Richardson Award which junior girls can apply for.

Go to www.fastweb.com and complete the profile. You'll find lots of good options there.

Good luck!

www.scholarships.com
www.scholarshipexperts.com

You can also apply for scholarships and grants if you're a minority, you need financial aid, or you play a sport or are in a club.

Go by and see your guidance counselor. He or she has books you can borrow and insights into scholarships available.
