How long would you wait before accepting that a missing loved one is gone forever?
This is not my situation, I am just curious.

If it was my husband then I can't imagine myself ever getting over it. Assuming by "gone forever" he passed away. Because thats the only way I can imagine him gone forever.

There are all kinds of song out there that tell you one never gives up on a love that has disappeared.
I myself think only a person that is in that type of situation would know how long...and if they even moved on would it be they accepted it or were they resigned to it.

Depends on the situation and the liklihood they were still alive...I wouldn't be in a hurry to move on regardless though, just as after a break up there would be the grief/trauma of loss to get over and some "alone" time needed to refocus and get back on track as a single...

I'm not totally sure as to your question. It sounds like it could be just be loss of a friend due to circumstances all the way to them being dead, which would just be a natural grieving process. If it's someone that is still around, I wouldn't wait...time is not of the essence.

I guess it depends on how much you love them.
If it's your child, you never give up.
If it's your spouse you don't give up, but maybe move on eventually.
It varies on the individual.

i would wait as long as it takes --- and i would go searching for them --- even though they are 15,000 + km away
