why do people cheat.. have your partners done it - what did you do ?

People cheat for so many different reasons. Some cheat because they are lacking something in their current relationship but are too "in love" to break it off. Some cheat to punish partners for ignoring them or wronging them in some other way. Some just have a hard time controlling themselves when they are attracted to people, the whole wanting their cake and eating it too thing. Some people just get off on having two relationships at a time and may consider themselves "simultaneously faithful". Bottom line: People are selfish, that's why they cheat.

My ex cheated on me whilst I was pregnant with my third child and the day I found out was the day that 'All his belongings were waiting for him outside, when he got home from his so - called fishing trip'. I never ever let him into the house again, once a cheat always a cheat. I found out a little while later, that he had only been seeing this woman behind my back, for three years and my best friend knew about it, so she got kicked into touch as well !!

I think most people are sexually attracted to a great variety of persons, whether they are in a relationship or not.
The ones who cheat are not different in that respect from the ones that do not cheat. The difference between the ones who cheat and the ones who don't, is that the ones who cheat are more selfish.
I do not know if anybody has cheated on me.

Desperation caused by a lack of communication is a familiar one. Perhaps they are in a relationship they don't want to be in, but don't want to hurt your feelings? Sounds stupid, but a partner that cares deeply may just not know how to deal with their own feelings. If this is the case they may be as affected by cheating on you as yourself.
Initially you may be inclined to blame the person they cheat with for 'tempting them away' or you will be inclined to blame yourself for being 'inadequate'. Neither are true. You will be angry and possibly depressed so this is a good time to go out with friends and bask in their concerned company, don't hide away. However hopeless it all feels, time really does heal.

Sometimes its not as easy as it normally appears, their comes a time when the temptation overrides any moral sense or loyalty. I've been cheated on and I forgave, but I've also cheated and got away with it. Its wrong but there is no specific answer as to why it happens apart from extreme lust/ madness or fatal attraction that feels like a life time chance that might never happen again.. then one regrets or goes back for more.. To forgive depends on how much you want to be with that person... Hard one but its life.

I guess some people just want something new. Yes my partner did so I left him. And 15 years on he is still trying to get me bac. I am happily married now to somebody else who doesn't cheat.

The whole concept of "cheating" has its roots in religious teachings. Human beings are obviously not naturally monogamous because, if they were, you wouldn't fancy anyone else.
Just because someone has sex with someone other than their partner, it does not mean that they do not love their partner.
Never confuse sex and love - they are two different things

I used to cheat because I didn't want to be cheated on first. I don't know if they cheated on me. I didn't ask. Anyway, I wouldn't have any influence on that. I also didn't tell them. It was only for my own satisfaction.

sometimes its because they cant get what they want from the person they are with and cant see a way out and find that it the easiest way.
However, i dont think its the the fault of the person that is used to cheat with, sometimes they dont even know...
oh and yeah, ive done it and dont think id do it again, its just not fair.

some cheat for the reason they want to try something new.to see what it's like to be with someone else.
to see if they get caught.
on a dare.who really knows why.
