You don't need a plastic container. The best way to make popcorn in the microwave is in a brown lunch bag. Put 1/3 cup popcorn kernels in the paper bag. Fold the top over 1/4 inch, twice, and use 1 staple to keep it closed.
In my microwave, it takes 2 minutes, 30 seconds to pop. Different microwaves will behave differently.
I've come to love my popcorn this way. None of the harsh, faux flavors and chemicals that you get in pre-packaged microwave popcorn, no fat from cooking, no mess to clean up.

No, don't do it. Once, I tried to pop popcorn in a plastic tupperware bowl and it was a mess! the popcorn didn't pop and the container was damaged.

No, I don't think so. It is made just for the microwave but you might be able to do it on top of the stove in a pot that has oil in the bottom, just enough to cover the kernels. High heat and shake it while it pops.

You can put the popcorn in a paper lunch bag and works just fine....fold over the bag and lay it on the folded side so the corn is contained in the bag once it starts popping....you will hae to experiment with the amount of popping corn dependent upon the size of the bag

YOU CAN ALWAYS TRY IT BUT MAKE SURE THE BOWL IS FOR MICROWAVE AND HAS A LID ON IT. IT WON'T HURT TO TRY. OR YOU CAN BUY POPCORN IN THE BAG AND PUT IT IN THE MICROWAVE.
