There are now TWICE as many former/inactive JWs as active . It is a small group A meager 2.4% Growth in 2011 Closing 20 Branch Offices Worldwide Selling Prime Real Estate in a Down Market Donations Plummetting Slashing Magazine Printing Cutting Meetings Charitable Status Challenged Child Abuse lawsuits piling Up 2.4% may sound to some like an impressive growth statistic, but when considering the number of Jehovah’s Witnesses in relation to the world’s population, and the size and scope of the global preaching work, this statistic falls woefully short of what would be considered meaningful growth for an organization of our size and aspirations.

There are so many mis-conceptions about Jehovah's Witnesses.
The FBI has a list of all the known cults. We are not one of them.
We do not believe that you gain salvation by works...however,
James 2:26: "Indeed, as the body without spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead."
Matthew 24:13: "But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved."
Hebrews 10:23-25: "Let us hold fast the public declaration of our hope without wavering, for he is faithful that promised. 24 And let us consider one another to incite to love and fine works, 25 not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as YOU behold the day drawing near."
The 144,000 began with the apostles...they were witnesses of Jehovah, as was Jesus...
Revelation 1:5: "and from Jesus Christ, “the Faithful Witness,” “The firstborn from the dead,” and “The Ruler of the kings of the earth.”
John 18:37: "Therefore Pilate said to him: “Well, then, are you a king?” Jesus answered: “You yourself are saying that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone that is on the side of the truth listens to my voice.”
1 Timothy 6: 13: "In the sight of God, who preserves all things alive, and of Christ Jesus, who as a witness made the fine public declaration before Pontius Pilate, I give you orders"
We are doing everything that we can to obey God's will and to make sure that the following is fulfilled...
Matthew 24: 14: "And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come."
Ezekiel 38:23: "And I shall certainly magnify myself and sanctify myself and make myself known before the eyes of many nations; and they will have to know that I am Jehovah."

You are standing in a dangerous ground by spreading lies about JWs. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, maybe because you are misinformed. I hope you stop doing such lies because God will not approve of such acts.
To correct the misinformation here are some excerpts from the Watchtower about salvation.
10 Salvation is a gift from God, but it does not come automatically. (Romans 6:23) There are certain basic conditions that each individual must meet to qualify for that gift. Jesus said: “God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.” And the apostle John added: “He that exercises faith in the Son has everlasting life; he that disobeys the Son will not see life.” (John 3:16, 36) Clearly, God requires faith and obedience from each individual who hopes to obtain everlasting salvation. Each one must make the decision to accept the ransom and to follow in Jesus’ footsteps. W00, 6/1
Salvation is a free gift from God. It cannot be earned . W96 2/1
How do we “render sacred service to the living God”? Among other things, the Bible tells us to combat the works of the flesh, to resist the world’s immorality, and to avoid its snares. It says: “Fight the fine fight of the faith,” put off “the sin that easily entangles us,” and “run with endurance the race that is set before us, as we look intently at the Chief Agent and Perfecter of our faith, Jesus.” And the Bible urges us not to ‘get tired and give out in our souls.’—1 Timothy 6:12; Hebrews 12:1-3; Galatians 5:19-21.
We do not earn salvation by doing these things, for no human could ever do enough to merit such an astounding blessing. We are not worthy of this magnificent gift, though, if we fail to demonstrate our love and obedience by doing the things that the Bible says God and Christ want us to do. Without works to demonstrate our faith, our claim to follow Jesus would fall far short, for the Bible clearly states: “Faith, if it does not have works, is dead in itself.”—James 2:17.

We are in NO way a cult. By the way I reported you. You did not ask a REAL question, I say this because after you got through with your baseless slander, you then answered your question. If you have a question and want answers to be given then ask a question, and let OTHERS answer. If you want to express yourself post a Blog. By the way we are encouraged to research our history. We even published a book, detailing our past. True some of it was rather embaressing but it was there in black and white.
In answer to Cricket's comment. I do not know who you had in your building, but they were not Witnesses. We Witnesses know that their is no such place as Hell in the sense you think, Hell=She'ol=the Grave=death, their is not a place of eternal torment. No Witness would claim such a thing. Also if they were living in sin someone in the congregation would find out and they would either stop or no longer be considered Witnesses.

you need to look up the word cult. we are a religion. we follow Jehovah and Jesus Christ. a cult worships man and lives in one state and live together. we live in our own homes, work just like you do and pay bills just like anyone else. a cult sleep all together. we have family and live with our own family. we may be your next door neighbor. yes we have parties but we do not have loud parties. yes some of us drink wine or beer. even Jesus made wine out of water. as far as the 144,000, it is in the king james bible also. your bible also talks of the meek shall live on earth forever. when Jehovah had the flood and Noah build the ark, Jehovah did not destroy the earth, just the wicked people and he will do the same again. we are a worldwide family in 236 lands, of all colors and races. we all worship together. we do not follow the watchtower, yes we read the watchtower, but we follow the bible and try to live by it. Jehovah knows we are sinful and will make many mistakes. I don't know what you are talking about we follow Jesus Christ of the bible. you are telling lies about us. Jesus Christ said they hated him and they would hate us. now I know what he was talking about, saying lies about us when you know nothing about us. the more lies you tell, the more I love Jehovah and Jesus Christ and know we have the truth in 236 lands worldwide.

And YOU will be objects of hatred by all people on account of my name; but he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. -Matthew 10:22
You must endure to the end of the wicked world or the end of your life and found faithful to God before you or anybody will be saved.
"once saved always saved" is not a Bible teaching.
As for the rest of your so-called question most of your information is erroneous. You must have bought a book as there are alot out there peddling this stuff.
Your best line is: "the jehovah witness forbid any research on there religion by the members of the JW."
THAT is priceless!!!
How could I study for 8 to 9 solid months anything I could get my hands on, to include many books, Encyclopedias, different translations of the Bible and many publications published by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society and be "forbid any research"????
Talk about missinformation? My goodness!

No, they teach what the Bible says that faith without works is dead. They teach that salvation in Christ, but a true symbol of someone who is saved is their desire to go out and teach others about Christ. Simply claiming to be saved does not make it so. Christ made a very clear example of this in his life, by being baptized. It was a public symbol of his dedication to his Father. He taught his followers to go out and teach others, and not just the elite who want to get paid to do it.

Why do you promote twisted versions of peacable and loving people?
Do you really think that christ like people are going to be taken in with your poisonous spite?
If you do consider yourself a christians then you have some very deep troubling spiritual issues you need to deal with.
Jesus said love your neighbor even your enemies and your horrid comments are nothing but hate filled and twisted.
Fortuanately most sensible people can read into that.

Thomas. It is a matter of faith. To the best of their understanding they are saved. Just like a Seventh Day Adventist, a Latter Day Saint, a Catholic and Protestants believe are saved according to their religious beliefs.
Just be happy that you have Freedom of Cult (Religious Freedom), guaranteed by the Constitution. There are people around the world that have to worship in secrecy for fear of persecution. Follow the teachings of your church, without attempting to force others to believe in what you believe.
There is so much hatred in this world, maybe we should stick to the basic concept of all religions: LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

The 144,000 are 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel who will be appointed to preach the Gospel to the ends of the Earth during the tribulation period. This is very clear in Revelation Chapter 7. I don't see how ANYONE could misinterpret it!
BTW;
JW's are a cult
