I could not tell you whether or not it is mange but a good person to answer this question would be a vet.

If its itchy, it sounds more like exczema. Mange is caused by the demodex mite that burrows into the hair follicle to lay its eggs in tubes dug off to the side. The hair falls out as a result and its itchy and inflamed. Mange generally starts as small patches of missing hair on the back, shoulders and face, whereas exczema is usually on the rump and stomach with dander(dry skin flakes). Mange is treatable with medicated shampoos if caught early enough and exczema is treated with cortisone and steroids. Mange can be cured but exczema is permanent but controllable. Get your dog to the vet now before it gets worse and costs more to treat.

Doesn't really sound like mange, maybe just dry skin. In mange the skin turns scaley looking and the hair falls out! There are good shampoos that will kill mange however, and some of them are for skin problems in general. Good luck BTW Mange is NOT horrible, uncomfortable for the dog for awhile maybe, but fully treatable

Could just need a good bath. Wash him first and see if that helps. If it is mange, he will lose a lot of hair, be bald in places, not just have dandruff.

I would take him to the vet. Mange is not a good thing for an animal to have. It could also possibly be scabies. My cousin had a dog who had that and it was scabies. Her and her kids caught it from the dog as well. Definately get him checked.
