We have a beagle with sensitive skin - so we found an oatmeal/moisurizing shampoo. It helps the skin from drying out, and it keep him smelling decent. Any kind works for awhile, but I'd recommend getting one at the vets.

I have a 7 year old Beagle. I use the oatmeal shampoo from Petco about every 6 weeks. I've never had a problem with odors. But I don't have the dead animal problem either.

Hi there!!
If your dog has flaky skin it probably means you bathe her too often. But in your case I would too!
A good shampoo to use would be Dermcare Aloveen Oatmeal Shampoo. This is used on dogs with dry skin or other skin conditions as it is especialy formulated for dogs with dry skin. It is a miracle shampoo!! It smells lovely and the oatmeal really clenses and softens your dogs skin.
My pooch suffers from dry skin and I swear by this shampoo. The first time I used it, it took away all the dry skin cells and she has never been flaky ever since.
Check out this website where you can learn about it and purchase it!

Hope I helped a little!!

Since you are probably not planning to shampoo your dog every day, selecting a high quality shampoo that may cost a little more is worthwhile. The primary issue is pH, which should be lower than your typical human shampoo, in order to qualify as the best dog shampoo. The best dog shampoo will be a non-tearing formula, just in case some shampoo gets in your dog's eyes. Giving a dog a bath can be challenging enough without adding genuine discomfort.

I use Desert Sudz from Ryans Pet Supplies, and I really like the entire line. I would go with the one called "THAT" shampoo. It removes odors from the coat without drying it out.

They sell pet cologne at Wal-Mart in pet section. Just bought some for my puppy. Not she smells like flowers! What is it about dogs and rolling in dead things and poop!

You can use any kind of store bought shampoo, but if trying to get off cheap use Dawn dishwashing liquid.
