I received a kit to make beef jerky for X-mas that came with a single pack of Meat Cure by Mortons. I can't seem to find it in any of the local grocers. Any ideas who or what kind of store whuld carry it?

Local butcher. Not supermarket. Where hunters take game.
or from amazon:

or direct from Mortons:

It is not "just salt" it is Salt, Sugar, Sodium Nitrate, Sodium Nitrite, Propylene Glycol.

Alton Brown recently did a show on "Good Eats" about how to cure meat and how to make jerky. I think if you look on TV Food Network's site, you can see his recipe.

Making your own cure would be healthier (and less expensive) than using stuff from the store that has "chemicals" in it and you can adjust the flavorings to your own taste. After you mix up your own batch of cure, it'll keep for a long time in a glass jar. Just a thought.

Have fun!

Bacon cheeseburger would be gosh darned wonderful. I've actually seen some website that sells a BBQ scented candle... "scents for gents" or something like that. You better patent this quick before they steal it.

Most grocery stores carry raw meat. Cut into thin strips and process.

Buy it from any market.

Cure is nothing more than salt.
