Question is it ok if the bride changes out of the gown during the reception. I've never been one to stay dressy tooo long! Is it ok to change after the dance, into something still nice and dressy but pants.

The only real problem is that you spent a TON on the dress and are taking it off earlier than you have to! Be sure to wear it long enough for people to ooh and ahh over it...they have no right to complain as long as they have gotten to see it up close before you change into something comfy.

I say go for it.

As others have said, it's your day. Do what will make you most comfortable and happy. Be prepared for some folks to wonder why you changed because people are a little judgmental sometimes and as someone else mentioned might have wanted the shot with you in the dress and were just planning to wait until the reception was over to take it. My sister in law changed and I don't blame her. It was an outside wedding in Texas in June, if I could have changed I would have too lol. My brother changed after she did and they both looked very nice just much more relaxed after several hours in the same stiff feeling outfits.

I've known brides who wear a different dress for the reception, they get out of their "frou-frou" dress, and into something still dressy, but more comfortable than a heavy, satin, gown with a huge bustle on the back. You could change into a very dressy, white pantsuit (evening suit) and look great!

There are lots of women who change into more comfortable clothing for the reception, from switching to a nice suit outfit to another gown that is tailored for evening wear. But you dont have to spend the whole night in it... once you have had enough of it, take it off...

I would wait until after the first dance though....

I think its a great idea. Change after photos of course. I am planning on changing into my cowboy boots, blue jeans, cowboy hat and a dressy shirt. I think the more comfortable, the more likely you will be to enjoy they party you worked so hard on!

Yes, after the cake and the first dance and the dance with the father the bride is more then happy to change as is the groom. It's your day, you want to be comfy!

I've actually seen THREE piece brides outfits, but you could easily create your own. Just buy "seperates". Get a 2 piece wedding dress-bodice/skirt...and then buy a nice pair of white dress slacks in a material that would coordinate w/the bodice.

I've also seen bridal attire that it is actually a pant suit but there is a sheer layer of flowing chiffon "skirting" on them, so it gives the appearance of a dress, but they're actually pants. If I can find the site, I'll get it to you......

Perhaps it's just me, but I've been to a ton of weddings and never seen a bride change her clothes. I wouldn't do it, but it's not my day...it's yours. If you are more comfortable in a pretty pants suit, then do it. What's most important is that you enjoy your day.

However, I would suggest that you take your pictures and stop by your guests tables first. There are people who will want pictures of you (and with you) in your gown.

Enjoy your day!

Yes it is perfectly ok. This is your day and you should be comfortable. Make sure your pictures are done, and then change your clothes. Congratulations and Best Wishes to you.

It's YOUR wedding day! The one day you will be a princess and have the show. Wear your dress all day! Dont change. You will only be able to wear that beautiful white dress once, soak it up! :)
